Three different advocacy organisations representing military families said they had heard from dozens of affected service members who expressed discomfort about being drawn into a domestic policing operation outside their normal field of operations. The groups said they have heard no countervailing opinions.

“The sentiment across the board right now is that deploying military force against our own communities isn’t the kind of national security we signed up for,” said Sarah Streyder of the Secure Families Initiative, which represents the interests of military spouses, children and veterans. people hold signs that read ‘ice out of LA’ Families arrested in LA Ice raids held in basements with little food or water, lawyers say Read more

“Families are scared not just for their loved ones’ safety, although that’s a big concern, but also for what their service is being used to justify.”

That’s the most appallingly ignorant statement I will see today, I can already tell.

This is social media, where the world is black and white and reality is whatever you feel strongly is true.

Appallingly ignorant in what way? Don’t project your bootlicking guilt on me. If you have something useful to contribute then do so. Otherwise, your comment only tells me you’d be one of the first slave drivers constantly salivating for more boot.

They’re being ordered to do these things? No National guardsman wants to do domestic stuff. It’s not like this is a disaster relief operation. They’re being used as pawns in domestic politics. Something that they are trained to stay out of.

They’re being ordered to do these things

Is there a menu they are ordered from?

Again, no one is making them do it. There are options for early separation & plenty of external medical/mental providers that would support their claims.

Something that they are trained to stay out of.

No, this is what they are trained to do as well. National Guard is trained to assist in law enforcement support & maintaining peace. I really don’t know why you think they are only trained for disaster relief, when it is obviously not true.
