How many tigers can you catch with forks and serviettes?
Probably negative one, I’d be fucking dead yo.
If you scream into a bag of marshmallows, do they absorb the trauma?
No, they just absorb the marijuana smoke.
Also some spit, probably.
I haven’t either. Damn thing’s been on the whole time.
I can’t, the power button is broke now, damn phone is like 7 years old and on its dying legs. ☹️
I’m using its fingerprint scanner or charger cable to activate the screen and unlock it, and just letting it go to sleep on its own after 1 minute of inactivity.
I’m pretty sure I can fix it if I want someday, probably with some resoldering and epoxy reinforcement behind the button, but when I can’t even turn the phone off properly, I’ll have to let the battery run dead first to even consider doing it safely.
I dunno if it’s even worth it at this point, the screen is fucked and the battery is half fucked already, plus I already got a backup of everything on this phone.
And yes, I’m posting this comment from said phone, I’m probably just gonna use it until it totally dies. I have other phones in way better condition anyways.
Just 7? Did you drop it or something?
It’s a T-Mobile Revvlry+, one of those phones with front and back glass that’s basically glued together. I hate that sort of design, but I got it for cheap when it was practically new. Oh, it’s also blacklisted, so it’s connected WiFi only. Yes, it’s been dropped before, and it’s on its second screen. At least when I installed this screen, I also upgraded it with a gorilla glass screen protector.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the replacement screen to fully adhere, the damn double sided tape they use is only like 1mm wide. On top of that, I think when the first screen broke, I do believe a fragment or two of the glass must have damaged the battery, so the battery is slightly swollen and there’s basically no way in hell to get the screen fully sealed in, so I got it held in with Kapton tape down the edges.
Which means it’s also lost its water resistance. And that’s where my problems really started, if I carried the phone with me on hot/sweaty days, the humidity from the sweat would get into the phone and start glitching out the touchscreen. For a while I’d just smack the phone with my palm to get the screen to stop glitching out, up until that last time a couple years ago when I discovered the hard way that you can actually break gorilla glass with your palm. 🤦♂️
I no longer carry this phone with me, it stays at home anymore for like the last 3 years or so. Even though the second screen is broke, the gorilla glass is still holding everything together thankfully, even though that’s even broke too.
As far as the power button, that’s a recent addition to the issues with this phone. I think the traces peeled loose off the logic board, as the button probably still works, but is now recessed so far as to be flush with the edge of the phone, which is definitely not normal. So I just don’t use that button anymore.
I also can’t open the phone back up without destroying the screen that luckily still works, because that double sided tape somehow got between the edge of the layers of the screen and would end up ripping off the backlight layer if I removed this screen to try fixing the button.
TL;DR - Yes the phone has been dropped before, it’s been through hell really. Busted screen, failing battery, power button almost toast, and also blacklisted. Not particularly worth fixing, just use it while it still works.
Would you steal a lawn mower if able to?
No, I’m no thief, and I loathe and despise thieves.
I am willing to fix lawnmowers and sharpen the blades to earn money though.
