In a perfect world, this would be amazing news. The problem here is, the actual police are corrupt. So it may not matter how much access every police dept has, if they want to wrongfully frame you, they will.

In a perfect world, it would mean rape scene forensics could be collected in one city, and be shared nationwide. So when another rape happens 3 states over, they can be linked.

Instead, I think what will happen is one rape will happen, no evidence is gathered, so police just patrol the city until they find an old condom on the side of the street. Now suddenly, some guy who threw a used condom out his car window is wanted for rape, in a system tracking statewide, for a woman he never even met.

Then, if he’s ever pulled over for speeding, or a busted tail light, now he’s arrested because they see his history.

This is just one case where it sounds uplifting, until you remember who the police are.
