Because you were never in their secret little club. That’s what these idiots don’t understand. They think that because they have a few million dollars, or tens of millions and a business that they are ‘wealthy’ and therefore Republicans are one of them and vice versa.

If you don’t have at least 250 million, you are never going to be the intended beneficiary of Republican policy, and in fact, you will be harmed by their decisions. If you went to one of their little fund raisers and proudly announced that your business made ten million dollars last year, they’d fucking laugh at you, because you’re a joke to them. And this is why I don’t care about most small businesses. Unless they are a co-op or a genuine charity the vast majority are run by people like this.

A “business” where you need de minimus. Dude wasn’t even importing enough to have stock. There are Amazon resellers with more robust supply chains.

Dude was likely just a shoe scalper. Maybe drop shipped knock offs.

Look, this guys failure to properly plan his business around his own politics is reason itself for his business to fail lmao

How does one own a small business, vote for the guy campaigning on a trade war, then get shocked when your small business is ruined by the trade war?

Oh no, the consequences of my actions, what have I done to deserve this!

what’s hilarious is they could be out on the street freezing and starving to death and they STILL will bleat their praises for dear leader trump, rather than admit that maybe they’ve been completely utterly 100% conned by the con man everyone’s been calling a con man for the last several decades

What a novel sacrifice they must make to make sure the other is properly hurt!

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

exactly why they’ve been deliberately ruthlessly wrecking education for the last several decades. believe what you’re told to believe, regardless of whether that belief is supported by facts or evidence. actually, fact, evidence, science are your ENEMY

I genuinely think they won’t, one thing that does make people like this learn is when they personally feel the consequences of their actions.

Despite what he said, he didn’t vote for Trump for the economy.

He voted for Trump because he was racist. So unless he suddenly became unracist, he will vote Republican again and blame a darker skinned person for the failure of his shoe business.

I honestly think it’s just because they’re fucking stupid and we’re raised that Republicans were “their” team.

I know for certain plenty of Republicans aren’t racist but I’ve yet to meet one who wasn’t rich or stupid.

Unfortunately, in the twitter comments that someone linked, you can see that he still staunchly believes that Trump was the best pick, and that a vote for democrats is a vote to “trans the kids.”

Republicans have been primed to treat their own suffering as a trial they need to overcome, and that was done specifically so they wouldn’t vote in everyone’s best interests even if it’s clearly also in their own best interests.

Conservatism is, as always, a complete failure of empathy, a lack of ability to recognise that if you don’t care about other people and you choose to put people who also don’t care about other people in charge, the people in charge simply and absolutely don’t care about you or your friends or your family.

Conservatives don’t understand that “them” and “us” are actually all just us.

This is a bit of an extreme view. Most conservatives do have empathy, though they will prioritize their closed ones with it.

The problem with this specific scenario with the tarrifs is just people being misinformed and buying everything the party tells them, but I wouldn’t blame it on lack of empathy. If they’d actually known what the repercussions would be, I don’t think most of them would have voted for trump.

Many, many conservatives voted for dump to punish immigrants. Many, many people voted to “own the libs”, just like the person cited in this very post.

Please… point to the “empathy” in “owning the libs”. They might have the tiniest drop of empathy for some, but the problem is they have a lot more HATE for people they don’t even fucking know. That makes them terrible people no matter how much you say, “butbut they still have some empathy!”.

Yea, the problem is they have more hate than empathy.

The same old song. Fascist voters believe that they will profit from fascism while only “the others” will be hurt. Idiots don’t realize that they are nothing but disposable assets to a fascist regime. That’s what fascism is all about.
