As an aside I sometimes work alongside the International Red Cross and Red Crescent - fantastic people on the whole. Our group is mind-blowingly diverse. The only thing we seem to have in common is that none of us are (particularly) religious. We refer to the ICRC as “Cee plus” from the crescent and cross motifs.
Paraphrasing the way it was explained to me as a child in a mainline Protestant denomination:
With action figure = “crucifix” = Catholic = reminder Jesus died for our sins.
Bare cross = Protestant and post-Protestant churches = reminder Jesus rose again.

I’m strangely very proud of my work alongside C+ and thank you for appreciating it. Just a word of warning though: I was a childless single man in my early thirties when I started.
