Abusers seek power wherever, the same impulse that drives pedos to enter the clergy is the same impulse that drives hollywood producers and politicians to seek the power to abuse. Per capita, even if you tripled the discovery rate to include clergy not caught, your kid is still safer with a priest than with a politician or a producer but every single time people will insist ‘religion bad because bad things done by religious people’, yet still support hollywood with their dollars and politicians with their support and votes.

my parents were very religious when I was growing up, and certainly that left a bad taste growing up but I acknowledge that there are wonderful people I know of faith. thats all. but ultimately this world would be better off without it. Look at global warming deniers? (god knows best) look at the priesthood who abuse children and get off scott free? the literal state of Israel who is conducting a genocide? I dont hate religion, it hates us, is my point.
