My neighbour started mowing his lawn with an electric mower at 8.01am today. I’m not fussed as I have kids and am up at the crack of dawn.

I was wondering if it’s a bit cheeky to do it that early? Most people who don’t have young kids would be enjoying their weekend lie in by my reckoning, but would this early (45 minute long) mowing on Saturday annoy you?

In my neighborhood, he’d be technically following the rules, but I’d still be annoyed and mutter about morning people thinking they’re better than everyone else.

    Check your local ordinances.

Is it legal? Probably. Is it appropriate? Probably not. Are you able to approach your neighbour and provide your feedback? Many problems can be solved by communication.

The city I live in has ordinances that construction work can’t happen before 8:00 on weekends, so imo he is following the rules.

On a personal note, I think 8:00 is an acceptable time for people to be out getting started on things that might cause a bit more noise, even if I’m sleeping later.

I do at whatever time, but the only (non wild) living creature that I would wake up are cows and farm dogs.

… Who by the way keep me awake in warm summer nights…

The only time I think this is okay is when you’re in a heat wave and it’s gonna be too hot later in the day(s) to actually be out working in it.

Not really. I’ve never really gotten the hang of sleeping in. I wake up at the same time weekday or weekend, only difference is I might read in bed for a bit before actually getting up if I have nothing to do that morning.
