  • You had the option. You could create a fullblown mfc application (in a couple of variants such as single document, multiple document and dialog based), but also a barebones plain winapi one. And a for a DLL too. I miss those simpler times of winapi coding, i found it fun. I moved away from windows as an OS around the time .Net 2.0 was released. Now when I look at modern windows development, I recognise absolutely NOTHING lol. Does winapi even exist still under all those layers?

  • It was actually quite simple from what i remember. There was a plain winapi call to control multimedia devices, the mmc api. You could send a control string to the device, such as eject, play or seek. So in maybe 4 lines of C code, this could be written.

  • Here in western europe, such behaviour would be VERY frowned upon. You go to the theater to see the movie on a big screen with good sound. And you shut the hell up from the moment the lights go out. You don’t talk, you don’t shout, you don’t applaud. Laughing and crying are socially acceptable if not too loud. If you want to talk, go to a bar. If you want to talk during a movie, buy your own projector. Want to scroll on your phone? Go to the bathroom. But in the theater, you sit down and shut the hell up. At least here, in quiet and peace-loving (and slightly boring) western europe :)

  • You cant just organise a gathering of many people without permits. If you lack the permits for say, fire safety, your gathering will be broken up by police and you get a fun day in court. And guess what happens if you apply for permits in your town and you say you want to organise your own town hall because you disagree with the ones in power? Do you think they will get approved?

Exactly. This is why peaceful protest doesn’t work.
