  • Weird, I seem to recall the senate parliamentarian pumping the brakes on much of the Dem agenda before reconciliation votes in Biden’s term. Just couldn’t pass 85% if his promised agenda because of that darn parliamentarian and “the rules.” All we heard from Dems then was how there was nothing they could do to counter the revered senate parliamentarian.

Last week, there were whispers about the parliamentarian pushing back on some of the massively problematic portions of this bill, and then whoosh, it was gone. Dems didn’t utter a word further. Media completely silent on the matter. What happened? Millionaire senators all want their tax cuts too huh?

  • I definitely agree with your last paragraph here. Try to vote in progressives in every primary we have access to in order to use voting to make a difference, yes.

    However,

    the donors want to win

You mean they want everything for themselves by buying politicians, right? Because often times Dem strategy is so incredibly tone deaf the only thing that’s clear about it is that they aren’t trying to win an election, they’re simply doing what the donors tell them to do. In this case, it’s the classic pretend fight, send strongly worded letters, and then let the republicans narrowly pass the massive tax break for the rich. Which is in fact a win for the donors, but nobody else.

  • One method would be an Article V convention to get rid of money in politics, abolish the electoral college, get rid of FPTP in favor of ranked choice voting, and mandate a fair and impartial redistributing system which must be applied nationally before the midterms.

Essentially, our last shot at a “peaceful revolution”.
