21 hours agoThe one concern I have is that banks are app only more and more, not being able to run banking apps (is that the case?) Is a no go for me.

Look for refurbished elitedesk g5, it runs debian magnificantly! I splurged a bit on the memory and ssd and have a quite nice desktop (developer).
