I appreciate your efforts very much, comrade. These are conversations that I’m just not able to have anymore. It’s entirely too exhausting, disheartening, and almost always results in lingering resentment or animosity, so I just don’t engage anymore.

I know it’s a bit defeatist, but I just don’t have the mental energy or fortitude to hold these convos that inevitably turn into debates. I try my best to voice my opinions about a situation in the most non-threatening way possible. I don’t want to prove their perspectives wrong as much as I just want them to hear my perspective.

Widdling away at the liberalism a little bit at a time has ended up with a bunch of “told you” moments. Even then I try not to express it like “I told you so”, I just let them come to me and repeat what I said 3 years as if it were their idea.

But again, I see and appreciate the efforts you and other comrades do make to do more direct engagement with libs.

In my experience horse people tend to be like motorsports people. Usually it’s a family thing and the basic needs for entry into the hobby are already met by the generational involvement in the activity.
