  • I mean, I agree, i want global liberalization of narcotic law, really as a right to bodily autonomy first and foremost. But it’s a complicated subject with a fraught history in many countries. Drug criminalization is not just governed by national law but also international treaties at the UN (and LoN, drug laws are old af). And its global criminal status also chokes the supply and transport which makes the drugs trade extremely lucrative and thus lots of shady powerful characters (like the CIA) have a interest in keeping it illegal globally.

It would need to be an international effort negotiated multilaterally like climate change or AI. Until then just leave your blunts at home if you go to Asia, its not associated with fun times and Bob Marley, more like exploitation and suffering unfortunately.

  • I told him they would have had so much more support and legitimacy if Israel attacked first

this is where I think you are mistaken. The Palestinian independence cause was about to be quietly erased and forgot after many Arab states normalized relations with the Zionist entity, and this was in process (Abraham Accords, ect) until the Al Aqsa flood completely derailed this diplomatic plan.

The atrocities committed by the IOF since then have sank normalization with Arab states for the foreseeable future, and attacking first allowed the resistance to capture valuable settler hostages. They would be in an even worse position with no leverage if the Zionists were allowed to start this war on their terms, though I understand that is cold comfort to the present reality of Gazans. They are on the frontlines of imperialism and all they can do is try to endure and fight.

  • Brett Stephans was masturbating in the NYT opinion pages about this today, apparently the new western dream is for an “Arab-led” security force to take over Gaza in order to “de-radicalize” it with the help of “European economic power”. It seems they have finally admitted that direct Isntraeli occupation of Gaza will only cause Palestinians to hate them more and strengthen the resistance. Though they still think annexations of the Egyptian border and cutting Gaza in half are necessary. Then I guess eventually a “deradicialized Gaza” will be handed over to Isntrael or the PA.

It’s an absolute fantasy, he literally made up a fictional Gazan man named “Mohammad” in the article to fabricate Palestinian support for this insane idea. No Arab state, even the collaborators, wants to get directly involved in this genocidal shitshow. I doubt NATO even wants to show up in person, except the US of course.

It reminds me of what the US is trying to do in Haiti with the Kenyan police. That has been a complete failure and it would be even worse in Gaza.
