  • I’d put them oldest further from the hinge. My logic is that they’d be closer to me when I open the door that way (same logic applies whether you store them in the door or fridge). However, of you have a weirdly designed fridge like mine, it makes more sense to keep them on the right side of the body of the fridge because we have double French style doors and it can be sort of cumbersome to try and open the right door and grab the milk if it’s sitting toward the middle away from the hinge due to the left door not being open and my arm bumping it / it being partially in the way. The left side is ruled out completely because there are shelves that are too low and don’t allow enough headroom for the milk.

  • There were actually two strikes on two separate schools that day, one in Minab and one in Lamerd. The one in Minab that killed all the schoolgirls overshadowed the coverage of the other (I’m assuming because of the moral outrage of killing so many schoolgirls). I didn’t actually know about the second until NYT did a report about it much later (linked above).

The problem is that even doing that isn’t simple. Both parties are captured by and cater to capital’s interests. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party both have 0 interest in changing away from first past the post because first past the post gets them elected and in power. It’s incredibly difficult to get anyone elected that is outside of either of those two parties because they will do everything in their power to challenge it. We’ve seen this most recently in the 2024 elections when the Dems were challenging Green Party candidates’ rights to even be on the ballot by taking them to court to contest their signatures and other procedural challenges. The Greens don’t have the pocket book to handle lawsuits, so this can effectively kill any local and bottom up candidate initiatives. It takes time to contend with these structures, which is why we’re just now seeing gains being made by Democratic Socialists like Mamdani in NYC. His election required years of organizing on the DSA’s part to build a party structure in NYC. Sometimes their best route to office has been through the Democratic party itself, like Mamdani, which comes with its own issues as well.

  • How are they gonna starve us when workers are the ones who grow the food, deliver the food to grocery stores, stock the shelves, and sell other workers the food? If we actually had more unions and did some organizing with a general strike in mind, we could setup strike funds and a plan for how to get food during a general strike. Then all we’d have to do is support each other and wait them out til our demands are met.

  • I just want to add that B-12 is often missing from or low in many omnivores’ diets too, not just vegans. Another good source of B-12 is nutritional yeast. It’s like an umami flavored (some people call compare it to cheese, but I don’t really think it has a cheese taste and don’t want to disappoint anyone) powder that you can add to whatever you want. Works really well incorporated in a recipe or just sprinkled on top of stuff.

  • It’s also possible that they said “get out of here” just before the video started and then subsequently yelled “get out of the car”. I never heard anything but get out of the car in the video that’s making the rounds, but it’s definitely possible the witness heard it before the video starts. And if that’s the case, then they would’ve been giving conflicting orders, which I’ve seen happen in numerous encounters with police before.
