  • Yes, it has several meanings depending on the context. Used in the derogatory manner the other commenter used it in is nowadays typically reserved for American political discourse referring to social liberals. It can be used in the economic sense too but in general discourse this would not be the common modern interpretation of calling someone a liberal, Adam Smith has not been around for 100s of years now and terms change.

You appear to understand what the word means but you don’t understand how the word is used. I am sure you are not a native English speaker or do not speak the language at a high level.

  • Good luck Sergei, another meeting with the Americans will surely do something after the last few useless meetings.

The most telling statements from Sergei here are his repeated denials that Ukraine is currently winning.

You will not end this war by speaking to the Americans who can’t even keep Israel in check while trying to negotiate with Iran. The USA clearly does not “have the cards” in this situation either so it is a little bit silly of Sergei to be so reliant on the Yanks here.

Putin needs to man up and speak to Zelensky if he wants to end his war, is he afraid or something?

  • If Russia had invaded the Baltic’s in 2022 there would have been a full NATO response no question. If NATO does not respond to article 5 there is no NATO in any meaningful sense any more and sleepy Joe would not have let that happen, he was also not afraid of Russia or compromised by them.

Invading in 2022, Ukraine was always the correct choice. Putin’s big mistake was not going all in at the beginning. This was a major miscalculation for Putin who is reportedly a great strategist, possibly in the interpersonal and political realm but definitely not in the military. Russia and Putin’s weird escalating boil the frog strategy has been a strange watch. It has allowed a slowly strengthening Ukraine to get back on their feet and back in the fight.

If Russia was to attempt an invasion of NATO today I believe the no fly zone would be over Moscow in a month, not Kyiv. Russia has recently started to use its more expensive SU-57 airframes as essentially artillery, lobbing stand off munitions from a distance. This indicates the cheaper SU-34 air frames are at their limits of usability. Europe has over 100 f-35 and about 1000 other 4-4.5 gen fighters. Europe also has a much larger population, 10 times the industrial manufacturing capacity and does not have 4.5 years of war fatigue. Europe stomps 2026 Russia low effort, I believe the tired Russian soldiers would surrender en masse if the real NATO showed up 4.5 years into the war.

  • We had the debate over Northern Ireland where there were two entrenched sides at war and it was US President Clinton that said that the UK should allow the IRA to run in the election. The UK said that they would never surrender to terrorists etc. (after having handed part of Palestine to Irgun) but eventually the IRA formed Sein Fein and were allowed to take part in the elections. They got 2% of the vote and the IRA crept away into the shadows.

The absolute ignorance you have of the history of the conflict in Northern Ireland is mind boggling. I have never seen so much incorrect BS in such a short passage of writing in my life, take a bow son, truly impressive failure!

Not surprising you get fairly easy to verify historic facts so wrong given your crazy take on how we got to where we are in the Ukrainian war.

I walked through the streets of east London 15 years after WWII and the rubble had been cleared and there was just miles of roads with no buildings. Winning is not as great as it sounds. It took decades to rebuild Europe. To make me see differently you need to convince me that war is worth it.

It sounds like you are trying to say it was not worth it for Britain to fight against Hitler and Nazi Germany. That is a bold take. As long as the Ukrainian people want to fight Putin and his imperial land grab I will support them.

  • The old saying goes that we need to know our history so that we do not repeat the mistakes of the past. Real life suggests that the general population is ignorant of history and would likely not understand it anyway.

You speak of the “ethnic Russian” people Putin was trying to protect in another land. This is the exact same excuse Hitler gave of protecting the Germanic people in the Sudetenland. This is the same lame excuse every imperial power has given for land grabs and you in your ignorance believe in it with no doubt in your naive little heart as you have clearly never read a history book. Dictators like Putin call people like yourself “useful idiots” as you eat up every little lie they tell with no questions despite how ridiculous it makes you look when you come out like this defending him.

  • China is training Russian troops to fight against EU interests in Ukraine while claiming to be neutral and in support of peace. China’s direct support in this manner is prolonging the war costing Ukrainian lives and making the war more expensive for the EU. China are now proven to be lying about a serious situation damaging their ongoing credibility.

China has done what they have done secretly because they, as you suggested fear secondary sanctions. China is now more dependent than ever on trade with the EU as trade with the USA decreases as a result of American foreign policy. The EU needs to hit China hard where it hurts, China has a massive national debt and internal debt and while they can possibly keep fighting the USA in a trade war no way can they fight a trade war with the EU concurrently.
