Paper doesn’t degrade nearly as fast as you’d think, especially if its just damp and you aren’t putting pressure on it causing it to tear.
I used to use single sheets of newspaper to line my veg garden as weed barrier and they lasted an entire season no problem. I stopped because it’s hard to get newspaper now, and I don’t want to use colored ink pages.
Layers, patterns, gradients, and screen printed art, mostly.
Lots of screen printed art. I’m a big fan of mashup designs where two or more IPs are mixed, like star wars and star trek mixed and represented as chibbi cartoons, basically just someone’s fan art on a t-shirt or sweatshirt, such that you aren’t really advertising any of them as its not immediately clear what’s even on it. Also just art I like. Tons of places to get stuff like that. I also have a lot of shirts with jokes and phrases and the like.
Layers are good if you live somewhere that isnt too ridiculously hot, plain or gradient base t (or one of the more basic screen printed shirts) under a contrasting over-shirt is good. Really opens up the options because basically anything button or zip works, patterns or solid colors, and the extra fabric layer hides a lot of imperfections.
I do a lot of thrifting, especially when I travel, because the variety tends to span different styles and eras and people buy stuff online that ends up there, but it takes a while to really build up the wardrobe that way.
This is why I’ve never really understood branded clothing. I won’t wear it, because it’s just an advertisement. Genuinely don’t understand how society fell so hard for that one. I get luxury brand show off for shallow reasons, but shit- and mid-tier brands?

Thats not… I feel like you weren’t alive yet when that transition happened.
Because CDs are objectively better in basically every way than VHS and cassette, especially for consumers. No more tapes stuck in the player, no more rewinding, no more randomly unspooled tapes, no more twisted ribbons, no more seeking static, no more heat warping, etc. plus cds take up less space overall, and you can easily use many-disc cd changers.
The market absolutely drove that transition, not manufacturers. VHS and cassette were still supported and produced for a LONG time after cds came about, because not everyone was willing to drop a ton of money to get their collection in a new format.
Suddenly glad I’ve had no desire to play ps5 in ages.
I should look and see if theres better options for ps4, as well, since mine is currently in need of repair anyway…
