I don’t think anyone in Taiwan expects any of their “allies” to come to their aid in the event of war - certainly not the U.S.

The Chinese, however, know how important semiconductor production in Taiwan (TSMC, etc.) is for their own economy. Someone like that orange moron is also currently demonstrating just how unwise it is to try to enforce one’s interests through brute force. I don’t think the Chinese are unaware of this and will likely stick to their usual posturing.

The excessive U.S. military spending is by no means about protecting the people. The point of it is to make billionaires richer. That is why it does not matter whether military spending yields any return or benefit, as investments in the healthcare system, infrastructure, or virtually any other sector would. That is not the intention; it is primarily about redistributing public funds into private hands.

Now it all makes sense: So the wall that orange Fuck wanted on the border with Mexico was meant to keep all the Americans inside, just like the Berlin Wall used to do between East Germany and West Germany.

I very much doubt that the spines are even legible (even if they were, there would be nothing to hide).

It’s just that people in the field I work in mostly think books are outdated, which is of course complete nonsense, but somehow that’s how they define themselves.

It’s good to be able to quantify what everyone already knows, because it’s proof. Unfortunately, it won’t change much, because this isn’t about objectivity - it’s about power.
