What a poor take on Avi’s opposition to privatization of Canadian infrastructure. I can’t think of a single instance of selling public infrastructure to American equity or hedge funds that has worked out. Keeping travel costs down is not the main reason, however it may be an argument for the general public to understand. Carney’s whole investment summit is a nightmare. Selling of the Canadian Wheat Board was a bad idea. Selling Connaught Labs was a bad idea. Even selling the Oil Sands to American operators was a bad idea. Selling any successful Canadian enterprise is a bad idea, particularly to American hedge funds.

How the fuck is he a liberal? Who nominated him? How have dozens of former liberals not crossed the floor to the NDP? He is worse than Harper. Beyond PP’s dreams! Fucking alarming.

Worse than Harper

They haven’t been progressive in decades. Avi offers a new look that I think people will respond to. They don’t have to form government, only an effective opposition to a minority government.

I think if you listen to Avi you will see he has passion and drive delivered with a charisma that has been lacking in recent NDP leaders since Jack… I like Avi and his vision. Give him a listen if you can, you will like him.

Canada has a long history of shedding core national interests to corporate America. The oil sands were developed by PetroCan, a crown corporation. Now, all the oil sands are owned by Americans. The entire Avro Arrow program was scrapped and burned (and the ground was salted) for an unknown reason to me, other than Americans. Connaught Labs, a world renowned developer of life saving vaccines was sold to Americans. The Canadian Wheat Board was dismantled, I think Saudis were involved, most likely supported by Americans. The list is endless. Canadians have to learn to value the things they develop.

When are progressive liberals going to cross the floor to join the NDP? I’m not a liberal supporter but can’t imagine this is what the liberal caucus imagined when Carney was elected leader.

There is a significant percentage of Canadians who wish to be American. I’ve known several. I don’t understand it. I’m expat American.

This is very disappointing. Heather would be establishment NDP offering nothing new. She would likely support the proposed pipeline being shoved on BC. In the debate all she offered was platitudes and slogans, no policy. Avi provided policy, had some french (which is sadly very important), and is the only real progressive candidate to date.

Not particularly. There used to be conditions for getting access to tree farm licenses. Any wood you cut had to be processed within something like 200 km. I’m guessing but probably Gordon Campbell eliminated that condition.

Carney lied in his campaign. He has no elbows.
