  • True, I heard that urine tests can go back 2-3 months potentially. Trace amounts.

Once when I was working in a distribution centre in 2015. We were introduced to this new Irish guy who was a truck driver. They were showing him the warehouse and telling us that he’d be working with us. Then a few days later we heard he’d been fired, he probably never did any work and just got fired before he got behind the wheel. Stupid of him to smoke weed or get hung over when he has a class 5 truck license for the biggest trucks. If he’d been up front about it and passed a less strict test I’d be okay with him. I’d like it if companies would ask for employees to be honest about drug use and their commitment to the company.

Either you want to continue with habitual partying and weed or you want a stable job. Not really a hard choice in my opinion.

  • I no longer care about the massive gap on my resume. I might get a job and the job lasts 2 weeks or maybe 4-5 months, then the unrealistic KPIs start to eat away at my dignity and mental health, and I just gotta GTFO of there. After a year or two of unemployment, I find another crappy job that nobody wants to work (for some weird reasons). Now in 2026 I can’t find anything at all. Applying for random jobs never yields anything.

I signed up with a temp agency called Sidekicker that does everything through an app. They just pissed me around with their sign-up process, which was as gameified as Duo Lingo. Then after submitting my video and a photo of me in my boots and hi-vis, they tell me that I did not pass the assessment, with no reason given? So I told them to piss off and just delete my account. Sidekicker was good in 2021 but it’s bad now. They won’t even give me 2 hours of work.

  • I have no job and no education, I just volunteer as a groundskeeper at an old anglican church. I believe that volunteering is really good, but I don’t recommend volunteering for large organisations, especially political ones. I just mow lawns and rake leaves and stuff. Very wholesome. The only community that I’m a part of is a weekly open mic at a cafe, and occasional ticket $ gigs or maybe board games with the homies. I still suck at Settlers Of Catan. Usually I hide in my room and just play games on Xbox. At 35 I really don’t care about anything any more. If I get a job it’ll be e-scooters or aged care. Warehouse and forklifts is trash work, stressful and dangerous. If they’ll hire anyone then that’s a warning sign to me.

We all need to bring back board games. Start with a game like quoridor (really stupid game but good for trolling) and also World Changers. Seriously comrades this game called World Changers could save someone’s life, buy it, try it out, spread the word. The game has Karl Marx and Che Guevara as character cards (also Bach and Gengis Khan and some ancient greek stuff).

I bought Ticket To Ride (Europe edition) but I haven’t taken it from its box just yet. It’s hard to organise with people but if you’re already friends with political activists who’re similar age, have similar views, then start with those people and expand toward less political people.

We don’t have to be isolated.

edit: btw I gave up on education too. It costs a lot and I can’t live comfortably with 5-10 flatmates nor can I easily travel to the campus.

  • It’s a pain in the ass when you want to run a web server on your PC. You have to disable SELINUX else the damn thing won’t let me modify html pages and show the updates. Everything is just frozen from making any changes. That said, it’s probably easier to do web development another way, my method is nearly two decades obsolete. SELINUX really pissed me off though. I wanted to test forum software on my PC once, and SELINUX was blocking me and I couldn’t figure it out for ages.
