Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·9 days agoYeah? Why was that ever in question in this context?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The recent Steam censorship debacle actually sort of opened me up to adult games.English4·10 days agoYeah the exceptions are rare, and then many like HuniePop 1 and 2 or Subverse lean intentionally into overdone slapstick.
(That being said HuniePop I can’t recommend enough, easily the best match-3 out there completely ignoring the porn parts)

Like, how is that even an argument. How can violence in games be preferrable to sex?!
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·10 days agoOf course, but whether you’re decentralized or not has nothing to do with whether you as someone running a service has to decide for themselves whether to block Mississippi users or risk legal consequences?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·10 days agoEach instance still has an owner. Just like the Bluesky CEO, they need to decide whether the (legal) risks are worth it to them and whether they can cover the (legal) costs if needed.
For any individual instance owner, this changes nothing.

Apparently that alone does not help?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·11 days agoAs evident by Lemmy instances not doing the same thing. /s
There’s a difference between being decentralized and doing something illegal, you know?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English2·11 days agoEntirely understandable. Like you say, it’s not your fight. This is more so if one creates something and isn’t even from the US, if the wankers in a specific US state elect shitty government, that’s not on you in a wholly different country to go up against.
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Has anyone's browser failed the Anubis challenge on some sites but not every site?English0·11 days agoNo, never had that problem.
Is this on a custom Android distro?
It uses an anti-cheat that is loaded while the game is not? What is this and why is anybody playing it at all? O.o
Ahahahaha. 😂 That is just brilliant. The kernel anti-cheat deadlock.
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Can an American explain to me what's with the grooves on PS1 NTSC cases?English2·29 days agoThat’s fascinating. Why where those like it? To not slide around so easily?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto 3DPrinting@lemmy.world•A Speed Loader For Your 3D Printer FilamentEnglish0·29 days agoVery limited use case of course (long-tube bowden style feed mechanisms aren’t that common any more) but damn is it cool for that case!
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Every support thread on Reddit is literally this nowEnglish4·29 days agoI mean some, yeah. It’s a community-run system, so naturally for every bad user, there’s a bad mod, too.
But there’s also a good mod for every good user, basically.
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that Gerrymandering allows politicians to determine election outcomes by changing electoral maps. In most western countries, it's illegal. Gerrymandering is common in the United StatesEnglish4·1 month agoI request all districts are now Penrose tiled using the Einstein hat!
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Nintendo@lemmy.world•The live-action "Legend of Zelda" film will feature Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as LinkEnglish5·2 months agoDefinitely, and it’s also wild just how out of left field these choices feel in general. Which is a good thing!
There’s also this old german documentary.
