the real toll is far higher.

This will remain true until this conflict is over. How it ends is largely up to how the U.S. President feels about providing Israel with weapons.

Since Trump has already said he wants Israel to “finish the job”, and has said hateful things about Arabs and Muslims for decades, it’s pretty clear that Israel will be given all the weapons and permission they need to meet that end.

If Trump did this Genocide you would never be this dismissive of the destruction.

I’m not dismissive of the destruction that Israel has brought to Gaza, I’m telling you that Trump will give Israel the greenlight to make this far worse. Whatever hypothetical universe where Trump is PM of Israel and is personally leading this atrocity notwithstanding.

You are in denial of what is on the horizon. Things are going to be so much fucking worse because of the results of this election.

Trying to play word games on a Genocide is disgusting.

You’re the one playing word games with “Genocide” by refusing to acknowledge that the current death toll, and the actual death toll after 4 years of an explicitly pro-Israel Christian Nationalist president, are going to tell a tragic story.

“Genocide” is just a word to describe organized ethnonationalist violence. It is the correct term for what Israel is doing to Palestine, but not all Genocides are equal. So far 2.2% of Gaza’s population has been killed. How many percentage points are you willing to add to that over a false equivalency?

It’s like saying that dropping 40 kiloton nuclear bomb a city is just as bad as a 2 megaton nuclear bomb, because all nuclear bombs are equally bad.
