Since I complained about tv before I want to add a positive. This movie does not get enough credit. And possibly the best opening sequence of almost all time. Serenity’s “Landing” sequence The music, the logo becoming the ship, the way it quickly intrudes the characters so perfectly to those who don’t know them. and the quotes. My god the quotes!

    Quotes

“This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.” “Define “interesting”.” “Oh God, oh God, we’re all going to die?”

“Well, what you plan and what takes place ain’t ever exactly been similar.”

“This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then - explode.”

“We’re robbing the place, we’re not occupying it.”

“You told me those entry couplings would hold for another week!” “That was six months ago, Cap’n.” “My ship don’t crash. If she crashes, you crashed her.”

“…If anything happens to her, anything at all, I swear to you, I will get very choked up. Honestly, there could be tears.”

“Honestly Doctor, I think we may really crash this time anyway”

    Such a work of art.

      I love watching Nathan Fillion.

I have seen Serenity but not the Firefly series but maybe I should start Firefly one day.

      Check this out.

As you know an Uncharted movie came out based on the games and I thought it was horribly miscast at the time and still do.

This was a fan protect that Nathan Fillion was in before the movies came to reality.

        Yeah me too.

The cast, the production, it’s all just -chef’s kiss-

I just try and block out who is actually behind it.

One of my most unpleasant jobs is to scoop the dry dog food from the big bag to the smaller bag for convenience.

I’ve made a few critical blunders, but one of the 2 assessments is just about done. Yes, what should’ve taken me like 2-3 hours took me somewhere close to 30. No I didn’t just procrastinate til the last minute, I was genuinely having a really hard time coming up with answers I liked. Liked being the key problem there, I think. If I submitted the first thing that came to mind, I probably would’ve passed just fine. But I just had to come up with answers I was satisfied with.

The other assessment is tricky. Also should’ve been done with it by now, but I’m not. I’ve half written 1 out of 30 questions. It’s not the end of the world, and I’m not really beating myself up about it. I’m just reflecting. Ironically, the thing I’ve struggled with most has been the 30 question reflective journal. Yet here I am reflecting on why I suck at the reflective journal. Joy. Oh well. I have a class tonight, I’m going to hang back after class and have a chat with the trainer.

Don’t mind the 3am stream of consciousness I subconsciously seem to have replaced my water intake with a truly unhealthy amount of coke Zero and now I’m far too wired to sleep, and far too sleepy to work. Outcome: thoughts be half baked but still escape containment

It will be unlikely for your trainer to say this, but I don’t think anyone will actually be reading what you submitted. They have many assignments to grade and they will only be very quickly skimming to see that your answers are relevant to the question. No one is going to spend a quarter of their work day on one student.

I delete things too, but usually it’s because I’m not in a good headspace and will overthink, over-analyse, and end up isolating myself.

You don’t have to stop 2am posting, sometimes it helps to get thoughts out of our heads, so we can think clearly or sleep :)

Side tangent: I’ve had a major perspective shift seemingly overnight recently. I used to be bothered by deadlines, and constantly anxious about those sort of things, and deeply regretful if I missed them, but then that all just kind of went away

I’m not entirely sure whether that’s a good or bad thing. But all of a sudden a bunch of things like that just transferred into the “trivial matters” category

Getting out of bed at 6:30am for a potential early morning soil delivery isn’t the most fun start to the week. Hope the dirt and literal shit comes soon.

I’m very glad that bulk soil delivery is a “last year problem” for me. Shovelling soil into a wheelbarrow, carting it to the back yard and then shovelling it out again into raised beds was not a fun experience.

          Spare?

Our deliveries are usually ‘OK, 2 metres should do it.’

Then, many hours of shovelling later, ‘Damn, guess we better order more…’

I have a problem that gets me every damn time, and it’s completely my fault.

The Athenaeum Library gives you a lovely, sturdy, capacious book bag when you join them. The borrowing period is also lengthy - one month.

Every time I go, I fill this bag.

Then I have to eventually return them, and hauling the full book bag up the stairs is a pain in the bum

I was having that problem, and eventually realised I need to take my glasses *off to be able to see close up now. I’m now both short sighted and long sighted, making finding a point at which I can actually see clearaly quite tricky.

I have been using needle threaders for hand sewing which I never used to need, and replaced my sewing machine with a model that has a needle threader built in.

Four assignments due next week. Three exams. A few quizzes. Ten weeks of lectures for one subject which will be watched in 2x speed.

    Then we’re done.

I don’t feel like I’ve learnt much from my degree, except that I should be better at time management. Hoping I won’t be saying that about the next course I do because that one should be the one that actually gets me a job!

I’ve no idea what your area is, but learning is never wasted. I started one degree, switched to a double that kept the first major. Then went to TAFE for something totally different. The first bits of paper proved rather expensive, but I use the background knowledge indirectly everyday. Makes me better at my ‘lower’ qualification.

So I finished Umbrella Academy last night. Oh man what a disappointment. After 5 and a half episodes it was left to the final 20 minutes to explain the problem and to wrap everything up. What a dumpster fire. I mean it was never the best show, but that ending just sucked hard.

I noticed a recent (to me at least) trend where writers introduce something cool, go a little with it, and then jump onto something else that’s also cool and repeat.

Could be due to the volatile nature of streaming services canning shows after a season with no resolution or ending.

Whatever it is, it’s a shitty trend.

Would love to stop feeling anxious about an appointment for my medications that I need. I hate that cannabis is so frowned upon, that I still hold the feeling of doing something illegal, when I need it to sleep.

This has been such a shithouse week for me, no restful sleep, just nightmares and a impending sense of doom.

Fucking ugh. Leave me alone, Brain, why can’t you be kind to meeee wah wah lol

Carpet moths have also returned, so slept on the couch after soaking them in vinegar and punching the ones that tried to escape. I hate carpet. Never install carpet.

I saw a few moths in my house too. Nooooo

I’ve still got the attractant traps in the pantry and the wardrobes, but am going to have to vacuum more often.

And put the crackers in the freezer as soon as I get them (to kill any eggs potentially brought home from the supermarket). I don’t see any other way they could be getting in
