Can I get resettled from Texas for this?
Was about to ask for a different state lol
Yes. America needs an internal system on the federal to support Americans feeling oppression from within the state they live in. And that’s crushingly sad. But, of course, authoritarians always need an outgroup to blame.
I suppose an easy first step would be voting against the party who keeps implementing these homophobic laws and regulations.
I’m not convinced that this will eliminate the homophobic state government in states which vote for Republicans.
What are you talking about! Go to sniffies.com and have a great time! Texas is like half gay people pretending to be manly.
Am on sniffies. Its fine if the city has a population over 120k. Small towns not as much.
And I would rather live in a place where I don’t have to worry about a supreme court decision leading to a trigger law in our Texas constitution sending me to prison for fucking the person I want.
Even tho the supreme court invalidated the law via Lawrence v Texas, it’s fundamental basis was the right to privacy that was invalidated by the Dobbs decision. If (and when given the state of things) the supreme court revisits the topic, the original law is still in the state constitution.
Fuck this shitty state. I’d prefer it was broken up and I lived in the state of Houston. In fairness, California should also be broken up. But that’s beside the point.
Well then I would recommend Seattle. But expect high crime unfortunately. Basically the same deal, nobody cares about you so you gotta go homeless under a bridge and steal what you need to survive. Put winter is fine 🙂. No homeless would dare be outside in winter. I mean we house homeless people in winter right? Right? We don’t just snow plow them or anything in a big reset sort of way…right? Anybody? Otherwise Seattle is great 😃👍. All kidding aside, Seattle is good. You’ll still find trump stickers around unfortunately but it’s good. Except for the small surrounding little towns which I totally agree with you, they are gay deserts. But just remember, every rain starts with one drop.
I live in the IH-10 corridor in one of the rainiest parts of Texas. Crime and rain are normal for me.
As for the cold? Bring it. If I can deal with 110°, hurricanes, no power for 8 days in summer, no power for 3 days in frozen temps, I can take Seattle. At least they prepare to be frozen.
Cool, this independent nonprofit that utilizes unpaid volunteers and just happens to run with the US government’s blessing is totally sufficient, we definitely don’t have a blatantly obvious need for an actual government agency with paid staff and legal standing to advocate for migrants when local/county/state officials are being assholes that this token gesture is just an attempt to paper over or anything /s
Whew thank God for that /s 🤣
Just kidding mate its just your comment was so dripping with sarcasm i had to wipe off my phone
I have learned from experience not to trust in my ability to communicate clearly online, so sometimes I overdo it to make sure
Haha you’re right about the need for an /s. With a popular enough post there always someone who misreads otherwise. I actually wanted to compliment the intense feeling your post evoked, good jerb
…for now. We’ll se what happens on January 20th. The refugees will be going the other way and my family will be amongst them.
Where are you going?
The UK. I’m a dual citizen.
Ah, Terf Island.
Still better than a lot of the US.
Is anywhere really safe for queer people? But at least I won’t have to worry about my daughter being put in a camp.
Oh yeah, now I remember asking you that before. Still jealous of the dual citizenship.
