Way back when I used to go to the football with dad - kids under 5 could take the train for free, but weren’t allowed in the stadium, so I was 4 on the train, and 5 when we got to the stadium
Happy birthday, what a coincidence!!!
Funny how timezones work sometimes…
Worked at a business which offered reduced pricing for kids. Front desk was trained in the habit of asking, not how old the kids were (because parents had trained them to give the age under the pricing shelf), but “what grade are you in this year”?
Not having prepared for that particular question, the kids would always answer honestly, and we could derive their age and charge accordingly.
Not only that, but they’re usually proud of being in the X grade, lol 😂.
This is genius to be honest 👍.
I skipped a grade.
Well you’re clearly not 4 years old anyway.
I used to get so angry at my dad for trying to pull that trick. I didn’t expose his lie but man was I not cool with being dishonest to save a few bucks.
Same. When my dad turned retirement age I would make absolutely sure every waiter and cashier knew he was a senior. I’d loudly ask if his senior discount had been applied. Ah, the sweetest of petty revenges.
(Karmic backlash: my kid has always been tall and strong for his age. I lost out on years worth of “kids for free” discounts. The ONE time I tried to eek him under an age limit he quite expertly shut down any shenanigans by stating his birth date, age to the day, and a proclamation that he would be ordering from the non-kid menu anyway, so it didn’t matter. He had just turned 6.)
Ya kids a nerd
Done this trick at restaurants. Kids under 3 eat free. My daughter was 3 until she was 7. She was small for her age.
I’ve got the opposite problem. My son has always been tall. He’s 11 and he’s 5’8". People have been looking at us sideways for years. I even have a shirt that says
DAD
est: 2013that I wear it when we go to amusement parks.
Yeah same. All my kids are tall. I would be getting a lot more free meals and more, if they were short.
Feed your next one coffee or ritilin at an early age. Helps stunt growth and saves you money.
Might break even with the cost of ritilin these days
Same. My oldest was taller than most 6yos when they were 4, and even today they’re taller than most 12yos and they’re 10…
My second child is normal size, so if they’re together I can sometimes get away with sneaking them under the age limit.
