I don’t want Trump to be assassinated.

I want him to die of a heart attack on the toilet or in prison, though I doubt the second one is possible because rich asshole.

Assassinations make martyrs. I want his base to get tired of worshipping a feeble old man and move on.

What I DON’T want is him being elevated as the Republican mascot on t-shirts and signs as the defacto symbol of their idiocy for the rest of MY life. When this cycle is over, I really don’t want to have to see his face again, let alone as the newest iteration of the confederate battle/don’t tread on me flag they wave around town to be annoying.

Let him be forgotten and fade into obscurity. It’s what he wouldn’t want the most.

You guys are terrible. You don’t need to agree with him to respect his life. Advocating for murder of people who you don’t agree is something you see in authoritarian countries. He has loved ones you know.

The people in this thread clearly have an agenda. The people here are no better than the conservatives pushing their own BS. Lemmy is extremely toxic. At least on Reddit you get crazy fucks on both sides of the pollitical spectrum. Here it’s just crazy fucks on the left. This thread is an absolute circus and most people here should be ashamed of themselves.

Idk I mean that sounds ideal but I also think once someone has been a blight for all life on the planet for decades it goes a bit beyond being just “someone I disagree with”. Curious if, in your mind, there is any hypothetical behavior or line to cross after which advocating murder does become acceptable?

Sometimes I also question if he does actually have loved ones or just sycophants and boot lickers but you never know maybe you are right

Let’s do a little replacement here:

You guys are terrible. You don’t need to agree with Hitler to respect his life. Advocating for murder of Hitler is something you see in authoritarian countries. Hitler has loved ones you know.

All rights are won through violence.

You don’t need to agree with him to respect his life.

      No, I fucking do not.

Advocating for murder of people who you don’t agree

That’s not happening here at all.

Bro is this a serious comment? The guy didn’t have a shot on Trump. He was fired at before Trump was in range. What the actual fuck are you saying? It was 100% an assassination attempt. I guess maybe there are downsides to telling an average of a dozen lies per day? It means if you try to claim something is true there’s no reason for people to believe you…

You seem to be quite riled up but it’s important to get all the facts first before letting our emotions take over.

The facts are that a disturbed man hid in the bushes outside of trumps golf course in Florida with a gun. Secret service saw the guy and shot near him and chased him. This guy did not at any point get close or within sight range of Trump.

Did he wanna kill Trump? Possibly. But the fact remains he never aimed at trump, he never got close to him, and he never fired a single shot.

There was no assassination attempt. Take deep breath. No one has mentioned any conspiracy theory. Id wager in fact that those hellbent on calling this an assassination attempt are trying to create their own conspiracy theory. Be better and be smarter, my guy.

It’s one thing to think about, and even to write about it publicly (which he did)

But this guy, also went and brought his gun, scope, and armor to the place trump was known to be, waited for 12 hours, and then was finally caught one hole before trump would’ve been in sight if the early reports are to be believed.

If it is not an assassination attempt, what else could’ve it been? The guy made explicit public posts about assassinating trump, then went to where trump was with a gun, and then waited for trump to be in the sights of his gun. To me it sounds like the security agent interrupted his attempt at assassinating trump, not anything else.

I think it would be easy to suggest that, had that agent not interrupted that guy, he would’ve tried shooting at trump.

By no means do I support trump, but, my hate for him isn’t so strong for it to deform reality I hope.

Because no one here is spreading any conspiracy theory except for you, who are trying to warp reality by claiming there was an attempt. There was not. You are creating your own reality out of emotion and projecting that same emotion on everyone else by claiming people are doing this out of “hate”.

Just take a deep breath because the way you’re acting can’t be good for your health.

It sounds like you really want this to be an assassination attempt and are doing your very best to justify it as such. I won’t try and dissect that because it’s a personal thing to you and I don’t even know you.

In reality, he may have wanted to kill trump. But at the same time, he did not get close to him, he brought a bunch of equipment and hung around outside a secured facility until the guards chased him away. That is a suspicious and armed person on the premises. Not an attempted assassination.

There were no shots fired, he didn’t get close, he didn’t even get within sight range.

I understand this is an emotionally charged subject for you since you keep insisting that reality unfolded differently so I won’t engage with you further. I wish ya well.

Oh don’t be so condescending, it was an attempt by all common definitions. And further, the FBI themselves is investigating the issue as an assassination attempt.

Not only do I think you are confused, I think you’re being a bully about it and should check yourself.

I mean, if a guy posted the same stuff about Joe Biden, tried to break into the White House with a pistol, but was stopped before he could pull the trigger, would you call that an assassination attempt? I sure would - he wanted to kill the guy so he went there to do the deed. What other reason would someone have to hide in the bushes on someone else’s property with a gun for 12 hours?

Dude was apparently waiting in the bushes for 12 hours. You don’t do that if you’re not waiting for someone or something. The Second Amendment doesn’t give you the right to camp out on someone else’s property with a gun.

I never said it did. I just think the first time happened was because they were trying to appeal to gun owners so they were allowing guns.
