I love the paraylmpics for their modified sports. I stayed up watching blind soccer. Argentina v Colombia. It was fast, aggressive, interesting. Scores 0 - 0.

    General and cat rambles

Ah Melbcat has licked a hotspot. It’s fair enough. Things have been intense with meds around the clock, wiping her clean, and interrupting/delaying cuddles to do a dose or chores. (She still gets cuddles every night.) I’ll keep an eye on it and see if I need to shield the area. She’s probably finishing her antibiotics soon.

    Pakige.

I shouldn’t have spent money on something frivolous, especially overpriced fast fashion microplastic fabric. And when I could theoretically have sewn one myself. But I’ve been feeling absolutely terrible lately and wanted a squishmallow so I bought one. I don’t have the energy for patterns and sewing these days.

I also got some sneakers. They’re not amazing for padding, kind of hard, but that’s because cheap. The pseudo slip-on deal is weird but works for me. Miraculously they kind of fit - a little loose but long enough. The wonky shoe proportions worked in my favour for once. They’re white so that’s risky but for now they look clean and presentable.

The 2 pack of wireless bras is probably going to the op shop with tags still on. The band is way too tight and even with a band expander just digs in uncomfortably. It’s very hard to find something that isn’t awful even when buying brand names and there’s no time to go to the factory outlet, so I’ve given up and have just been playing clearance roulette.

I had a favourite brand/model but the cut got changed for the worse and now I no longer buy it. Never found a replacement that’s worked well. It’s a shame.

I also really need new clothes after not shopping for so long but am restricting it to occasional cheap junk pieces just to fill a gap. Waiting til I become more able to sort out something proper, and also waiting for when I’m not stressing as much about needing to save the money for large unexpected bills.

I only wear those kinds of bras when I go out looking fancy. Otherwise I wear the crop top ones that slip over the head. Much more comfy and last heaps longer.

They don’t tend to be great for me. They tend to pinch/squeeze in the band (I need adjustable hooks) and not support much. I gotta say enshittification of clothing and not much chance to shop in person is doing a number on me.

It would be fine if I still had energy to sew but here we are.

yay, I finished the display cabinet and loaded most of my shells. The biggest one, a baler from Western Australia couldn’t even fit, and my boxes and books won’t fit either. So in the big dresser they go

will get a better pic during the day , but this is it for now

Jobs that have a lower cognitive demand than uni but higher cognitive demand than retail?

I fear I need direct instructions but not to the point of monotony.

Admin jobs. Requires the chutzpah to insist on people following procedures. Most admin jobs are about corralling information so you can find it again. Plus some phone skills. And you learn real quick how to drive printers and photocopiers etc. And the intricacies of the bowels of Australia Post and courier companies. This could actually be a turn off. But the skills come in handy almost anywhere.

After struggling to locate eye(lid)primers I found Nude by Nature, Milani and Barry M at Priceline in Bourke Street.

As UD is usually my holy grail, this is going to be interesting.

have you ever moved country? if you change address they ( internet services ) delete your library because of copyright

they can’t delete a physical album

        I lost about 1000 albums

( i might do navidrome when i get new puters and stuff of my own, even then, so much of what we use is reliant on electricity supply 🤷‍♀️ )

You have a valid point. Also, we’re one of those countries that treats piracy (or a lot of the time, even just digitising your existing physical media) as the ultimate crime against society. Since we also let border officer take backups of phones and computers, indefinitely storing them on their hard drives, and they’re allowed to demand passwords, and seize devices with no justification, I feel pretty sure your music would get seized at the border.

But also, they act like they’re allowed to do whatever they want with no requirement to justify their actions, they’d probably seize CDs too just for shots and giggles

They search about 5,000 phones a year. I value my privacy, and don’t appreciate people poking through my shit on a “you seem suspicious” basis. I understand that that’s basically customs entire job, but it feels different when it comes to computers and phones, particularly as they don’t even need grounds of suspicion - they can just decide they don’t like you and take your phone

It’s one of the many human rights we don’t care about in Australia. It’s targeted harassment and abuse of power.

Absolutely. That’s a large part of the reason I want to move elsewhere. I love Australia, and am always thankful we don’t live in a war or terrorism torn country, and, generally, live well, but I don’t understand why we have such a “fuck the people” attitude when it comes to pretty much anything.

Goes far beyond border patrol demanding passwords to devices, and duplicating people’s data with no just cause, but that’s a rant for another day

All the music platforms are terrible. They try to push playlists and make you listen to music the way they want you to.

I don’t want to go any further forward than queuing up albums in VLC player from an external harddrive
