I really want to use Mastodon, but it’s so empty. Even if you try to engage with people, outside of a handful of cliques, a lot of furries, and people with extreme or niche views on specific subjects it’s pretty dead.
Have you tried bluesky? It’s pretty alright imo.
I always considered it to be the spiritual successor to Twitter, because, you know, twitter birds fly in a blue sky.
But Bluesky uses its own unique protocol, so it ain’t gonna work with the ActivityPub stuff. But I don’t think ordinary people would care about that. We aren’t ordinary people.
That hasn’t been my experience. I just don’t have the bandwidth for Lemmy, Discord, and Mastodon. (And before somebody says “Ditch Discord!”…I have friends on there, so that makes it hard.)
I get like 500 toots per day in my feed, I can’t keep up :/
There’s actually a crapton of people out there, it’s just that there isn’t an alogarithm delivering their toots to you. You actually have to go out there and stuff people into your followers until Lists become useful. Which isn’t for everyone tbh
Have you tried following tags? I found a lot of people that way.
I get contacted by Tesla recruiters often. My reply has evolved to ‘I will never work for that Nazi’
based
Yes!
Let’s all throw some in and run this bad boy ad on Twitter till Elon takes it down in a huff.
Please don’t give him money. This is so stupid.
Fr it has a, “I’m pouring out my Starbucks to own the libs” vibe.
And give money to Twitter?
If you also factor in further accelerating userbase and revenue loss, us spending that money actually turns into a net loss for xitter.
I’ll gladly spend that money out of spite, just to see his website lose users to Mastodon even faster.
That seems unlikely, especially if the add gets taken down as hoped. Then we give them money for nothing.
Weird, nutty, POS Muskrat.
And trump.
Average fediverse user
Elon can be blocked on Twitter. It’s Lemmy where you’re force fed everything he says or does.
Naw, I block the string “Musk” in my feed, helps a lot. “Get off” did not trigger it, sadly.
That’s why I’m in this thread in the first place. Atleast include his name in the title so it triggers the content filters.
He owns the site bro, using it is enabling.
Yeah I don’t really care. I’m not as passionate about him as you guys.
No one forced you to stay here. Facebook may be more your speed
It’s okay I only use it for porn and extremely niche graphic art
i wish i could but if i want to actually follow politics i have to be on that site in order to witness it.
I wish i didn’t, but for some reason, this is perfectly legal. It’s a little weird that the “online town square” requires registration isnt it.
The view of politics you get from twitter has elon’s thumb hard on the scale regardless of how grassroots they can make it seem. The days of it being a “public square” are quite over
If only someone used AI and got his face on the driver
Edit: they DID
Wouldn’t it be the face on the silhouette? And I think they did.
Googling it, it’s definitely changed.
I learned that Boost allows you to filter out keywords so you never see certain kinds of posts.
So glad I don’t have to see Musk crap unless it evades the filter through being on an image, like this post.
Don’t buy his shitty cars, either.
I use Spotify without subscription, with adblocker.
What blocker do you use?
On mobile I use xmanager patched Spotify app.
Only thing it can’t do is download and show lyrics
I use spottube if I want to download
On desktop, ublock origin
On android, ad-silence by BluePie. Available on F-Droid
Today I learned that unlock Origin has a desktop wide version. I might as well start using it.
Here’s hoping there’s a Linux version once I finally take that leap. I’m getting sick of Windows (but unfortunately I still rely on it).
Is ad-silence better then blokada 5?
Spotify is still getting useful data from you though aren’t they?
I mean their recommendation algorithm is good. And the adblock is more about not feeling annoyed by ads and less about privacy.
And Netflix
Finally quit after they jacked up the price for a third time.
Even normal users hate twitter
