Allan “dwangoAC” has made it his mission to expose speedrunning phonies. At the Defcon hacker conference, he’ll challenge one record that’s stood for 15 years.
as interesting as this is, I feel like the author just heard the term “Tool Assisted Speedrun” that morning. And is not really sure what they’re actually used for.
Yeah, headline confused me. I know Dwango as the holder of TasBot, not as a hacker
Yeah I can’t read his name without hearing the “keeper of TASbot” right after it.
I’ve been so disappointed with just how many cheaters there are in the speedrunning community. We can’t have nice things without someone trying to get smart for their fake 15 min of fame. Like, congrats, your biggest achievement is being a fraud.
Its normally not about getting good times, often it’s tweaking RNG or other elements to get good times faster but ya, it’s stupid
A fraud over a video game record.
You talking about politics, or capitalism?
Fictional internet fame
Oh so real shit. Cool.
TASs are in entirely different categories with different rules, though. Does this guy also think using glitches to skip straight to the end credits 5 seconds after starting a new game is cheating because he only believes in 100%, glitchless, toolless runs?
dwango is literally the creator of TASbot. I think you should read the article (edit: or the full report ) before commenting
