My two cents, although this is just coming from my brain bin, is that many folk’s benefits were cut as social services were tailed back. When at risk communities, who already lack a lot of the everyday resources of middle class+ ares (which are predominantly white), lose even more of their resources it affects things - like health. To have healthy children, you’ve got to eat. A lot of people I knew had their stamps reduced or removed, especially senior citizens. I mean I would see seniors begging on street corners just to live. But not just that, a lot of lower class people are stressed. They’re in survival mode. Add to that multi-layered race issues (Are you “white” enough to be hired? How far are you from the money? Who depends on you? What plates do you keep spinning and what plates do you drop? Etc., etc., etc. - micro-aggressions. Outright aggression-aggresions.) and health issues that tend to be associated with certain areas, ethnicities and classes - you’ve got a powder keg of issues that absolutely can lead to more premies.
