I’ve never understood the appeal of Prime day nor found any “deals” worth spending money on. Just seems like it’s all clearance junk with an extra helping of human misery for the warehouse workers.
Seems like the best deal are on clearing inventory of Echo devices, which is a bit strange given recent moves to monetize those. Even worse for them, my first generation hockey puck is doing well
I second this. The prime day, cyber monday etc deals used to be amazing. Now they just hike prices up for a month before and then offer you regular price as a “sale”. It’s been years since I’ve seen a legit discount and now I avoid these events entirely. Amazon has lost everyone’s trust and rightfully so.
I don’t think I really used Amazon much back when they had legit deals, but I will take your word on it.
The last few times I’ve checked over the years, it’s been like it is now. Basically gamifying the experience with the countdown timer and the “this deal won’t last!” temptations on stuff that seems like it wouldn’t sell well on a normal day.

Many of the discounts are always there too
Same. If memory serves, I don’t think I’ve ever purchased anything during Prime Day sales. It’s always sales on stuff I don’t want or need.

Something like 15-20 years ago they would have legit good deals on limited quantity to build buzz for Prime Day.
Now that there’s awareness they use it to shovel any old crap with phony discounts.
