That was funny. Grabbed a takeaway breakfast from a local cafe and went down to the beach to eat it, and was promptly bailed up by the local gull population and an opportunistic cattle dog.
Owner was very apologetic, meanwhile I was laughing too hard to get out a complete sentence. 😂

Bit cold today but sunny so I think I’ll take the boys for a bit more of an off road ride and check out a picnic ground and such nearby

What’s the recommended brand for a washing machine (front loading) and microwave oven?

Best value for money, and looking at $200 for the microwave, probably $700 for the washer. Not a hard budget though.

Love my Fisher and Paykel front loader. It’s my first front loader and I’m really happy with the job it does. For a microwave, don’t get sold on all the extra stuff if you’re not going to use it. I use ours to defrost stuff, reheat meals and melt cheese so I got a basic Samsung. Go for decent wattage though.

Happy with mine too. I would argue the premium models (with lots of cycles and buttons) aren’t a necessary investment. No matter the brand I think spin cycle speed is important for efficient drying, mine goes up to 1400 which is a great start for dryer or hang drying.

Thanks:) you’re right about the microwave… Will go with a cheap one then, since all we do is heat food, never used the fancy features.

I’d put in a bit extra for a Bosch washing machine. As for a microwave it depends on how big you want it and what you want it to do. They can last 2 years or 20 years so I’d go with one that fits in the space.

I spent like $30 or $40 on a second hand Samsung microwave oven 3.5 years ago and I’ve been very happy with it, not entirely sure the pricier ones make much of a difference. Washing machines on the other hand, definitely go for quality. I was cheap and got a Beko one that’s okay but it does sometimes unstick itself from the floor and get rather violent even when I haven’t overloaded the thing.

Thanks Just_kitten, will check out cheap options for microwaves. For washing machines, Bosch seems popular here so I’ll go with that, and avoid Beko 😅

Mr P has finished remaking his bed out of bits of the broken/destroyed bed plus other timbers, and there was much swearing and insults while trying to get it into the house. Hey, don’t get shitty at me, I’m not the one who constructed a thing too big to fit through the damn door! We ended up putting it through the living room window and it just fit through. He hasn’t done too bad a job, but I’m not praising it on principle because he shouldn’t have smashed it up to start with.

The day of darkness begins much earlier than wanted. Power goes out shortly. Boo! Overusing heater in the hope warm will hold for a bit, then decamping for mini golf and boiling a ham hock.

Well I pretty much already did this, but I’m still annoyed so will do it again. Google nerfed my maps timeline. There’s only 2 reasons I stay in the google ecosystem: 1. Google timeline, and 2. Google photos. But if those donkeys keep breaking everything I like them I’m going to cancel my Google one membership, finally purchase unraid, and build a nice little google free lifestyle where people don’t break everything for no reason. I’m still annoyed about them killing the mobile MyMaps app

I put a studio subwoofer (weighs about 50kg) straight into a wall yesterday trying to get it down stairs on a trolley. Such a stupid mistake. I’ve fixed the hole (sort of) but everytime I walk past I just shake my head :(

A friend of mine passed away less than 2 months ago, and now her son has messed up big time (no sympathy, he really screwed up in a stupid unnecessary way) and is going to jail, I’d say for a long time. His boys lost their beloved Nan and now their Dad in less than 2 months and I’m pissed off about it. Also, the oldest of the boys is friends with my boy but I don’t know the mum, so they probably won’t see each other anymore. The kids are nice kids, but their little world has changed so much in such a short time, and I really feel for them.

      Amen.

I broke something even more at work by attempting to fix it. And my headlight also died. The way the car is means I might have to take the whole front panel off to change it.

I’m looking up Philly cheesesteak recipes and I can’t help thinking what a waste of a good steak but then maybe I’m missing out on something really good. I don’t know. Convince me why or why not I should create this.

We watched some old episodes of Ready Steady Wiggle from 10 years ago and the new episodes are so much better. They’re more cohesive and have better pacing.

There are 8 wiggles in the main lineup now, it makes me wonder if there’s a US wiggles branch.

If not, Anthony should take the Trans-Siberian Orchestra approach and have two groups of the wiggles that just tour each coast up and down.

It would make more than enough to set everyone involved with the wiggles up for retirement

I inadvertently listened to most of MSO’s performance Carmina Burrara yesterday live on ABC Classical while doing my taxes and was all “oh it’s THAT doomsday song!” And then all of yesterday arvo and today it’s been bugging me, where did I hear an English language parody of it, was it misheard lyrics, no it was simpler, was it an ad, what ad was it, what ad, was it the UK, was it here…

… and then it finally came to me out of nowhere this evening. I only knew it from Gruen as it aired before I moved to Australia, but the wave of nostalgia over LOTR and the excitement of videos on the internet came flooding back once I watched it and it sent me into a bit of a YouTube rabbit hole. Many of you probably know this one.

    It’s a big ad, ve-ry big ad…

No idea tbh, I used to use slip sheeting which is kind of like the black square of plastic that came in the bottom of the original green bags but for warehousing. Being able to use a weak spray glue to stick the fabric to the stencil was best for sharp edges.

I actually have stencil material, but it feels kinda like very thin silicon. Can cut stuff up to and including balsa tho if you want choppy choppy, just sling me the pattern

Alternately i actually have iron on vinyl and fabric pens i can load in the fucker to just draw directly on a tee (works with light colours)

Hmmm. Now I’m wondering if i can 3d print an adapter to fit a bleach pen to the head and draw with that…would probably wick like a mofo though…

There’s a wide variety of refillable graffiti pens. Those folk like to use custom really hard to clean ink.
