Auditing my take away coffee cops since I can get a discount if I use it, people seem to be accepting them again and lets face it tinyest is FAR more likely to get me crook anyway. Turns out I need 2 lids and 2 rubber bands. A new glass one is 30 something bucks, so wanna assume what the lids and bands cost? Yep. 50 bucks. Far out. So much for environmentally friendly. Mrs swears she has seen them in op shops but I never have, can anyone confirm? Or did anyone find a cheaper way to get replacement parts?

Bloody white-ass boomers pushing their way onto PTV. Everyone else stood to the side, but these four just had to make sure they got the seats they wanted… Even though there was only, like, 10 of us on the platform, who got on a whole ass train.

And they call my generation ungrateful and mannerless. Pfft.

That thread on the melbourne sub about the guy who had the mattresses dumped in his yard really makes me mad that the EPA, Council or Police won’t do anything about it. They’re just letting a scummy business owner get away with it.

My cold has mostly gone but my sinuses are still full and it’s causing my teeth to ache. I hope it’s not a sign I’m getting a sinus infection or something, I have an appointment to have a broken tooth with a root near the sinus cavity removed next week and I’m a bit concerned a sinus problem could prevent that happening. I’ve been waiting months for this appointment already.

I’m hoping that it’s just the tooth and the pain might resolve a bit when that’s gone :( Otherwise the Flo bottle helps a little

Does warmth help? I know it’s very individual.

(I still remember the pain and malaise from when my sinus infection was really bad)

Still struggling health wise and having to jump through bureaucratic hoops.

    spoiler

(I went to hospital and was admitted overnight but didn’t get the intervention I was hoping for/need. Just an escalation of an existing referral.) This pattern may continue for some time so I’ll probably not be posting much about it and really downplaying it. Because it’s a bummer and nobody wants to read about all that for months or years.

I’ve found something easy that speeds combing but might still go for the low maintenance cut when I have the chance. I’ve had the style before, so I know it looks sophisticated and suits me well.

I haven’t been able to do much cooking or gardening lately but might still go and post to the instances in a bit. Pump up the comment numbers. 🙂

All my overtime over the past week clocked up to an extra entire day of work 😵‍💫 Luckily my workplace was super understanding and flexible and have redirected Monday’s site visits so I can take ALL of Monday off in lieu to get desperately caught up on a bunch of other things! 😌 I’m gonna sleep well tonight. Once I’ve finished standing around with my niece at this impossibly slow check in queue… It has been a solid hour… dont fly Scoot you guys.

I have to say the electric blanket was a good investment, better than the heated throw. Because you’re able to use an electric blanket under the covers that traps heat and gets much warmer. Very good.

Hot water bottles are also amazing. (Just be careful to replace them every two/three years or at any sign of the rubber perishing. Or they will split/leak and scald you.)

Watched some of The Piano Teacher last night. I remember catching a scene from it on SBS years ago and I always wondered what the movie was.

There should be Steam life achievements for figuring out things like this

Wow the music down at the Firelight festival is louder than any music I’ve ever heard from any event and that includes NYE celebrations. Usually the music barely registers with me but it’s proper loud. Yelling get out of my yard from the balcony has proven unsuccessful. Stupid festival. Might go down there soon just coz though.

NOOOOOOOOO that’s my favourite lolly shop! Although she doesn’t take card and that has annoyed me.

Also I’m totally going downstairs in shorts and a hoodie… that’s my winter wear. Just vapin it up before I go and be around people.

    My boring sock saga.

I am sick of socks having only two or three wears before they get a hole. They are not too cheap, 10-15 a pair. My nails are good, I do do walking, so maybe socks are made for a more sedentary lifestyle. I can’t wear tradie socks as they are too thick to fit in my shoes and I have wide feet. I have tried many brands and stores.

I bought some snoopy socks from typo/cotton on today, let’s see how they hold up.

What are your faves? Looking for some recommendations here.

Macpac socks are good - you can get thinner general ones that fit in regular shoes, not just the thick ones for hiking. They’re a bit expensive though

It’s better to buy good socks even if they are more expensive as they are less expensive and less bother than cheaper ones.

Can’t help wondering if general quality has fallen the past decade?

Hmm, I have spent obnoxious amounts on socks and really haven’t found ones that are all that… I think an old pair of snowboarding socks were my favourite for the functional aspect, but I hate the pilling if you wear them to bed.

Surprisingly, my boring Kmart socks have lasted a long time. I have quite a few pairs which might explain why it takes ages for a hole to appear.

Possum or alpaca socks are my favourite. Super warm and last for years. They’re thick though so might not work for you. I think I bought my last lot from Creswick Woollen Mill.

I’ve been rocking fila socks since lockdowns.

White for home and gym and black ones for work.

4 years on and still got the same pairs

I have switched mostly to men’s socks - my feet are right at the top of the standard size range for women, which means they are more stretched and wear holes quicker. The larger sizes of women’s socks are often a bit too big and less available, but the standard size in men’s business socks tends to work well.

Old explorers rock. Apparently the newer ones aren’t nearly as good. But I haven’t needed to replace my really old ones, so I don’t actually know 🤷

For everyday I like the bonds with the cushioned soles. They come in different heights (low, crew etc). Seem to be on sale at least once a month. The colesworth underworks brand is similar. Not as thick like tradie socks, but thick enough that they don’t get holes easily. For thin dress socks, I find cotton more durable than bamboo.

Sometimes when life is dull I use a product called cough Snaily Lotion to brighten my eyes, especially when I can’t get New Lube (there seem to be worsening supply chain shortages or price hikes of this brand)

You do have to carefully peruse the products as some may have misleading labels or only be sample sizes. Avoid the third party stockists.

But sometimes if you keep checking for stock you might get what you need

It’s still in the cinemas so that’s probably why. I’ve noticed this strategy recently where the release to cinema and rental overlap. For a family, $30 would be cheaper than cinema tickets so maybe that’s the target market. Wait a month and it’ll be the normal price.
