The Boost for Reddit app still worked for a while after the big shutdown with workarounds, like creating a mod account or using revanced.
Not anymore, as of today, the Boost for Reddit app is completely 100% dead now.
Goodbye reddit forever, hello lemmy
Edit: Working again
Reddit did some change in the API that breaks many apps. As far as I know they are aware of the issue and will fix it. More info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/redditdev/comments/1d3spoc/error_getting_submitted_with_mobile_useragent/
Yeah my vanced sync stopped working as well… Not sure what to do
Redreader still works without patches if you must use reddit
I wish I didn’t have to and could convince everyone else to join the fediverse, alas…
Stop browsing Reddit?
I mean yeah that’s an option but there’s still great content there
Same here was looking for info but couldn’t find anything, it works if you log out so I’m guessing it’s the revanced API thing that’s finally broken.
I can confirm. As of today I’m unable to load my front page or any of my subs.
I misread your title and thought you were saying that the Boost for Lemmy app was now dead. I’m glad I was mistaken.
I was like: “huh? But I’m using Boost right now!”
Same! LOL
I came to see if there was any chatter on this… I have a feed but no comments load. ☹️ Are there any other options besides maybe (revanced) official reddit, if that’s still a thing?
I believe a few apps got exceptions, but I don’t remember which.
Redreader looks open source and it seems to be working. It’s a lot more limited, which might be a good thing
Ah redreader I’ll look into that, revanced keeps failing to patch the official reddit app for me. 🙃
revanced keeps failing to patch the official reddit app for me. 🙃
Just FYI if anyone cares to patch the official app, I believe you need to use 2024.17.0 from April 24th. Per comments from someone on apkmirror, that’s the last version that patches successfully.
Nice thx might just try that to see how it looks.
I just installed Atom for reddit, it’s pretty barebones but works for me
I infinity for reddit is the best for me but it’s down for now. There is an update but I don’t know if it will help. I’ll check it out tomorrow
I was wondering why the redlib frontends stopped working today. Oh well, probably for the best this way.
Very sad day indeed.
I was already using reddit less. I guess this is the final goodbye.
There’s an incoming patch from revanced that will fix a few of the reddit clients including boost. Check revanced manager for new patches in the next few hours and you can patch boost for reddit and get it working again.
Fuckkkkkk
It was working just two hours ago. Now, what am I going to do with all the free time?
RedReader still works.
Yup, I’m still using this to lurk occasionally.
Yup but it’s so much less convenient to use
In what ways?
Welcome! Lemmy is a pretty fun place.
We got authentic weirdos unlike them Reddit fake bot weirdos.
Who you calling weirdo, nerd?
Us.
yeah.
weirdos like me!
Reddit been dead for awhile, homie. Welcome.
I bought Boost for Lemmy on day 1 and come once in a while but let’s be honest people haven’t migrated off Reddit (and likely never will ) so outside of a few very specific subs there is barely anything for me to read over here…
It’s very tech focused over here, but that makes a lot of sense when you consider only tech aligned people can figure out how to get it all working as it is.
I kinda like the fact that it’s only tech savvy people on here tbh. Kinda like it used to be back in the day, before everyone in the world and their cousin figured out how to get online.
Normaloids ruined the internet. It’s nice to have a niche little corner of the web that they don’t know about yet so they can’t come and spoil it (yet) with all their endless pointless bickering and recycled political garbage reposting. Long live the 90s web 2.0 revival 😛
That’s a really good way of looking at it actually and I agree. The community is kind of filtered by only people who care enough to leave reddit, but also I think there is an aspect that we’re trying to escape the consequences of the karma system on posting/commenting behaviour.
I’ve always thought that having accounts that showed your total number of upvotes incentivises posting the same in-jokes endlessly. Bot accounts with high karma can even be sold to people who care about having a high karma account.
Oh, i uninstalled BfR immediately when i heard what was happening over there. I’m glad there’s BfL though! Dev seems just as active here as he was over there. This definitely scratches my itch for Reddit, though i wish more users were here in the places i like to browse :'( i need more motivation to get back into my hobbies, but i fear that all died alongside Reddit. sigh
More folks that make the switch the better it gets here so welcome friend!
