It should be said (beyond it being obvious) that I have Western biases:
If I perceived that countries where high heels were popular tended to infringe upon the rights of women at the same rate of countries where niqabs were popular, I may feel similarly about both. (I realize the planet has a poor track record on feminism.)
Also if high heels somehow came up over the face in a fashion that came across as dehumanizing to me, that’d make me more upset with the pain they cause too.
PS: I think it was Sam Harris who made a point about how “perhaps neither niqabs nor the Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition are the best things for women” (paraphrasing/butchering)
