    I love how their spread wing creates this plaid/gingham like pattern, and how it looks almost pixilated at the edges, very cool.

      I catch myself sometimes thinking some of these owls look a bit plain, but when they’re just sitting there all these colors and patterns are just smooshed together.

      But get them to spread out and get some light through those whispy feathers, and it becomes quite a different looking bird.

          I agree. The light really makes owl feathers stand out since they are less dense than most other bird feathers and it really shows them off.

          I’ve also been getting a kick out of how much “wing” is actually just feathers, which the last pic really shows off well.
