Tried to make that xi-peel emoji but with Traoré and Sankara. It’s kind of hard to get the effect of peeling paper.

So I was in a lecture and there were some guys in front of me. They looked back at my fanny pack which has a communist sticker on it, and grinned to themselves about it. I made eye contact with them. You could tell they were looking down on me. I don’t know why they couldn’t be normal about it and just disagree without making themselves feel superior. It triggered my sellf esteem issues a lot and I wish I said something.

Was it the libertarian debate-loving type? Because that’s who usually gets all smirky about Le AKSHUALLY gommunism rewards the lazy. Or claiming that “inheriting my grandpa‘s wealth is my own hard labor.” - god that one tested my entire spirit.

What I’ve gotten from some peers, other than puzzlement, is at times what I think is malevolent curiosity, oughtright dismissal, or being made fun of (like this one blond shitlib of the overachiever type I know).

I think the best way to deal with these types of people is to shoot them down, one way or another. Dismiss them, bore them to death, or make them embaressed that they even thought of doing what they did.

But that’s what we want to do, and sometimes we can’t. For now it’s best not to let them get to you, so that you can hopefully get back at them.

Well, just got banned from the book server I loved over discussing communism. I know, not a great idea (possibly the worst idea) but they had a political channel and it wasn’t explicitly against the rules, and I informed them numerous times early on that I would stop if I was warned.

    I certainly learned my lesson.

Edit: I also asked what was and wasn’t allowed and they informed me that anything was allowed so long as I was respectful about it.

Let me guess: it was something to do with Stalin, gulags. the Holodomor, Mao, Tiananmen Square, Stasi or anything of that caliber?

Every place is cool with discussing communism so long as it’s conveniently only theoretical and nothing actually historical because the 10,000 lies dumped on every actually existing socialist state with an utter refusal to consider those well-funded narratives are wrong.

        tl;dr It was Mao.

We went back and forth about Chinese revolution for a short bit and they asked if it was worth all the people who died from starvation and the executions of educated people. I said the second part didn’t even happen (I’m pretty sure this is what did me in), I probably should’ve looked into it and tried to debunk it properly but it just looks so wrong on it’s face. Why would the Chinese even do that? Why would anyone do that (Pol Pot did because he was a crazy person but besides)? Given that the barefoot doctors program existed they clearly didn’t mass murder doctors, what the hell even is this claim?

I’m sorry that happened to you. Strategically speaking, maybe it would have worked better to hunt down a source on it and post that? But at the same time, it sounds like they were trigger happy about finding an excuse to ban you anyway.

In my experience, communism or not, few places on the internet are actually moderated with any kind of fairness or consistency of standards. Lemmygrad is one of the few places I’ve seen where I mostly agree with the decisions made and think they are genuinely trying to be principled about it. And I don’t say that to kiss ass, it’s just sadly true how rare it is in my experience. Much of the time, even in my liberal days on the internet, my experience is that moderators either act based on the letter of their law and ignore the spirit of it. Or they act basically on what they feel like doing in the moment and then (maybe) cite a rule after the fact to try to justify it.

Just checked out the acp chuds out of morbid curiosity and holy shit I’m actually surprised by how much bigoted they are. They froth at the mouth just with the mention of gay, nonbinary and trans people. they’re literally fascist reactionaries with the things thay say about minorities so why do they even call themselves communists at this point like they hold no principle of it.

“The bourgeoisie of the whole world, which looks complacently upon the wholesale massacre after the battle, is convulsed by horror at the desecration of brick and mortar!” ― Karl Marx, The Civil War in France

I know Nolan’s Batman is fascist propaganda, but I find it funny that Afred told a whole story about a man robbing and throwing away the precious stones that the British (Alfred included) were gonna use to bribe his tribe leaders.

Then Alfred’s whole conclusion was that man was simply doing it for no rhyme or reason, just to “watch the whole world burn”. And also “oh, and we burned the forest down to catch him.”

And Bruce doesn’t even question it??

Nolan Batman movies are textbook examples of gaslighting.

Everyone says they’re good but then you sit down and watch one and it’s goofball city for 2 hrs.

Saw a recent review roasting The Dark Knight and it was both poignant and funny.

I think The Dark Knight is a shitty attempt at a Christ allegory by Nolan.

Harvey Dent was the “symbol” of the city (why the hell would a city have a person as a symbol in the first place), who was corrupted by the “devil” (Joker), then he committed evil by murdering people.

So good “Christ” (Batman) took the blame for Harvey’s evils so city could be redeemed of crime (through extended powers to the police ofc)

Wow, I just looked up the clip cause it’s been so long since I watched that scene and WTF even is that anecdote. Colonizer like, “We tried to bribe this guy into being a comprador and he didn’t go for it??? Guess he wants to watch the world burn. He is forcing me to do this. Lights forest on fire.”

It also adds a weird dimension to Alfred’s character that raises a lot of questions. Was he working for British intelligence back then? Why would he go from that to being a butler for some billionaire?

Was he working for British intelligence back then?

In most iterations, yes. Afred is almost always an ex-British intelligence agent.

Why would he go from that to being a butler for some billionaire?

Working for billionaires -> Working for a billionaire (who is probably the richest on Earth).

Huh, I guess I never paid much attention to Batman lore. That certainly adds a creepier angle to it, if Alfred is there to keep tabs or even to subtly influence what they’re doing with their wealth.

Ah okay. My project isn’t super serious but I am also a little out of my field (long story and some poor life choices but that’s for another day). DeepSeek has been helpful with reorganizing some jumbled notes and helping me get a base understanding so far.

I pasted a copy of this topic to Feddit’s r/NativeAmerican subcommunity, but some reason people were downvoting it, and after three hours of no replies I simply deleted my topic.

I can hardly guess what was motivating the downvotes. Was my thread too lengthy? The La rendición de Granada thumbnail off-putting? The topic a tad too Eurocentric? Maybe I would have known if I left it up a little longer but I doubt it.

Though after looking through a few threads there (like this reaction to an artist who mistook Hawaiians for Native Americans) I think that maybe I shouldn’t have bothered them at all. It’s just too depressing for me — not that Native Americans have no reasons to be angry, but I can only handle so much negativity before it becomes unhealthy.

It’s an interesting topic and the anti-Muslim crusades definitely enforce capitalist white supremacy later on.

On another note, you might be interested in Andres Resendez’s work which sheds light on how the Spaniards genocided the Indigenous peoples of South and North America and that it wasn’t simply “smallpox and disease.”

Populations can rebound dramatically after a pandemic in the span of a few years even

      Many Indigenous nations didn’t.

      Because they were largely genocided.

I have an deep emergency on my hands but it’s good to make that point.

The Indigenous population of the various societies dying was not “accidental.”

So is Abdul El-Sayed being positioned for a presidential run in the future?

Are the American elite going to try to use an Arab version of Barrack Obama to ultimately suppress support for Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, etc.
