Dude some of these programs pay big bucks in the states. There’s one here that looks for people considered medically athletic (like sub 15 body fat%, good BMI, and mile times) that can pays $500 per donation. If you go one a day you can make $180,000 per year just shitting. It’s crazy.
Here’s that same one offering a $500,000 reward for a million dollar donor. To be fair, I think the guy running it may also have some screws loose (understatement, he might be batshit insane), but if it actually cures something I guess that’s a good thing.
The guy sounds eugenics adjacent, though maybe not by intention:
People wanting immediate reward without regard to the widespread, long-term damage they were doing have been allowed to poison our air, water, and soil. In some cases, the responsible party is the majority of the human population.
People using their unhealthy bodies to create more unhealthy people.
Humans have nearly completely overridden natural selection without regard to the important functions it performs to keep populations healthy, and without replacing it with ethical alternatives. Thus, the consequences of bad decisions have been drastically reduced. Many of these decisions detrimentally impact the health & development of their offspring [1][2]. Many people in the medical community support and enable some of these decisions despite the long-term consequences [1][2][3]. Thus, the proportion of the population that is biologically deficient has proliferated and become the majority.
The tone of the website page as a whole seems well-intentioned but then he has to go and say stuff like this.
I did read part of his post that I linked, and that’s what led me to add that he might be a lunatic. Since then, I’ve looked into it, and scratch that, this guy is insane. I think he’s an ecofascist of the socdem variety going by his website and the various sources supplied by it. He’s still has a bunch of supposed scientific support behind his FMT company Human Microbes and all they’re doing though. It’s funny because he literally says “infinite growth on a finite planet is suicide” which is basically a core tenet of modern Eco-Socialism/Eco-Marxism, and in his politics archive on his GitHub page cites Einstein’s Why Socialism?, all the while his principal claim is that we are living in a dystopia because people are getting dumber and the only way to fix that is by making smarter people. He also believes human overpopulation is the primary driver of climate change and we need to stop having kids. No takes on communism, but you can kinda assume his views because of his link for “why the left should be anti-censorship”.
TL;DR: This guy’s nutty, but he knows his shit.
Oh wow, that’s wild. Good to know. Jeez.
how does a healthy person’s shit help them learn anything about chronic illnesses. some rich person just has a shit eating kink and wants samples so they bribed the government to put this up
Silly hampter, poop has microbes. Some people don’t have microbe making them sad in pain. Healthy poop transplant make thrm have good microbe supply in their gut to digest food. :))
Fecal microbiota transplant is an actual treatment for an antibiotic resistant bacteria. Healthy person’s (healthy) gut microbiome from the stool get transplanted into the person with the infection. Healthy bacteria will kill the problematic ones. Weird treatment, but more efficacy than some of the antibiotics used for this infection. (Antibiotic resistance problem is also avoided)
Edit: problematic bacteria in question is clostridioides difficle, which infects when gut microbiome is not doing good. Can be due to long ass antibiotic use fucking with gut microbes.
i know about this because of south park but i thought it was only a joke.
I saw the same episode, I thought it was just a joke too. They also had one were they were putting food up their butts which I also thought was joke, but rectal feeding/nutrient enema are very much a thing as well.
I think they actually use it to implant into unhealthy people, so the healthy microbes can colonise the unhealthy person’s gut.
No it’s a thing. There’s a huge ecosystem of symbiotic bacteria in your large intestine which help your body. They get warmth, safety and food, and they give you something in exchange: Most will digest food you left undigested and give you back a portion of the nutrients. They will also stop other more harmful bacteria from infecting your intestine. Some will produce substances helpful for your body, that your body can not make on its own and you can’t get from food (like Vitamin K).
Taking antibiotics for a long time, having surgery (especially appendix removal or colon removal due to cancer), and having other problems with the intestines can cause your gut biome to diminish and this can have a lot of negative side effects.
Stool transplants help to repopulate your gut with the useful bacteria.
Of all the things to donate, I’m surprised people don’t donate this more often; blood isn’t the kind of thing you can donate frequently, but poop? That feels like an easy thing to donate daily; how many people have ailments so regularly they can’t donate poop almost every day?
Because the requirements are extremely stringent and you must maintain a speciality diet that is both expensive and not very appealing.
