I get triggered too easily and then I feel the need to report it sometimes (like if something mentions abuse, I feel like reporting it online).

It is tiring.

Edit: I do not mean that I reported incidents on this website (I was referring to incidents off this site, actually).

i think that being triggered is a usual proof that you’re still a empathetic being who maybe puts him/herself in other people’s shoes too often, sometimes even putting in risk our own sanity. it’s some kind of curse that we leftist people carry against the usual apathy or psychopathic tendencies from right-wing people. sometimes we need to try to develop some kind of cold-blood (or thick skin) at least to being protected against constant threats to our own sanity because reactionaries will try to push those buttons to make us give in to their game and tiring us or making us give up to everything and being doomers

    but maybe that’s just me…

I also get triggered when I browse the internet and I sometimes report things that make me angry. Unfortunately I haven’t found a solution. I just stay away from those places and avoid those situations

    It’s exhausting

It is difficult to avoid the places that trigger me because it is sometimes accidental, so I do not have a choice in the matter.

You mean report it to the mods because the poster triggered you, or report the actual abuse to the authorities?

Edit: Oh I see now, you mean report the abuse.

no, the trigger is your protective shield. dont report people unless they actually did something bad because thats not fair to them but use the block button… i like using the block button…

No, I have not thought of it (and besides, my concern is more so the fact that I report incidents involving triggering topics to orgs that are related to the incidents, like abuse hotlines for mentions of abuse online).

I am scared that I will end up reporting something that will be bad for the communist movement (like if I report a communist org or country for something that triggered me).

Of course it’s good to want to do something to help abuse victims, but if this is something that you’re doing continually to the point that it is causing you distress, it sounds more like a compulsion and something you need help with. Have you got any way to ask for help, like from a doctor?

Consider that the concept of being triggered is related to trauma responses and that you may need support to process the wound you are carrying with you. I speak from personal experience

(Trigger warning for trafficking mention) The thing is that it is related to really dark stuff (like a YouTube comment talked about an incident where supposedly their relative bought a DPRK defector as a bride and said that DPRK defectors in China were often trafficked, but it sounded like anti-communist propaganda, so I was hesitant to report it).

It’s ok that it’s dark. PTSD is a hell of thing to live with (speaking from experience) and it’s something you can get support (without drugs) and there are some powerful and short-term interventions that can greatly improve your quality of life
