Why do people still actively pay for CR? Asking seriously. I kinda figured all the people that don’t know how to torrent ended up on one of the many anime streaming sites that have existed since the dawn of time…

I dropped them as soon as they started making that “anime” that was just a crappy Cartoon Network knockoff. If my money isn’t going to the studios that I like, why am I paying for the product?

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I’m conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent. Thank you for your cooperation during this trying time.

You’ve got my vote if you end your first day’s pep talk saying “It’s crunchin’ time!”.

Agree I read it as: let’s degrade subscribed users experience to protect us from piracy… And then: we should really do more, we don’t know why but more and more people are pirating… face palm… As a paying customer if it gets bad enough I would probably revert to the old ways…
Make service good and cheap enough are the only real solutions…

15 years experience in a leadership position for something so specific seems like a hard ask. I feel like that’s just asking for a person in their 50s who probably won’t really understand the technological environment they’ll be dealing with.

They’re asking the impossible. If they don’t get a fool who doesn’t really understand, they will get a liar who will string them along. Serve them right.

Congratulations you just defined what I think of all management roles. A fifty something male with “street smarts” and no degree/trade training in the field.

They all have a chip on their shoulder about younger workers having higher educations/more training.

Did they not get caught streaming stuff they don’t have the rights to? Or am I misremembering?

Why haven’t we sanctioned the crap out of CrunchyRoll is beyond me. We could have a federated PeerTube instance for anime.
