New York City has released more than 170,000 pages of previously undisclosed records about air quality following the September 11, 2001, attacks, showing city officials at the time knew conditions around Ground Zero were unsafe to breathe despite repeated assurances to the public.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the release at a news conference Tuesday.
“As the years pass and the human toll grows, we reckon with the cost of September 11th whenever another New Yorker is stolen from us too soon,” Mamdani said. “Now, close to 25 years later, more people have died from 9/11-related illnesses than were killed on the day itself.”
At least 140,000 people from all 50 states have enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Program, and 49,000 have been diagnosed with certified WTC-related cancers, according to the 9/11 Memorial. Mamdani said Tuesday that more people are eligible for assistance than are currently enrolled, including residents who lived near the site but have not received outreach and those who live outside of New York.

American newspapers all suck
for one, british newspapers on average suck more
They all suck, but USA ones suck most
what do you use?
two out of the big five uk newspapers are anti-trans, and the third is a neoliberal financial paper. i’d say us media is generally better
6/8 USA newspapers are owned by Murdoch and love sucking billionaire cock.
Al Jazeera are pretty great for world news, but with an obvious bias towards the Middle East, BBC are hit and miss, but they are legally required (the only one that is) to be neutral, but it’s also that every case of none-neutral has to go to a tribunal, so some gets missed (and the tribunal has a TERFy bias)
I’ll be honest I just don’t trust USA news cause your “left” looks like centrist compared to our left
Where are you getting the number six from? He’s only got the WSJ. Including tabloids he does have NYP, but the UK doubles the trouble on that front with both Daily Mail and The Sun. The US has got the New York Times, The Hill. And the US has got tons of amazing news magazines to show for it: New Yorker, Press Gazette, Reason, (and recently Newsweek got good,) plus the left Jacobin and Mother Jones. The UK has, as far as I’m aware, Spectator. There’s also online news like Wired, 404media, Vox. CNN is as good as the BBC though that might change soon, but we still have tons like CNN like NBC. (The US has also got the AP but I’ll let this one slide since the UK has got Reuters.)
News is news. Tell me which newspaper other than maybe The Guardian is your left in the UK.
