This is so desperately needed. I lived in the UK for years and their immigration process was actually almost pleasant. Government services of all stripes are managed online through well designed, accessible web portals that have been designed for human use. The whole thing is better for citizens and for government. It’s cheaper, more deficient, more traceable.
Coming back home and opening a government of Canada website felt insulting to me after a decade of being actually supported by a government.
They want people to use services and make efforts to increase usership instead of using bad design and obscurity as a first-class to prevent overuse
as someone who is a web dev ALL gov of Canada sites have been infuriating to me for decades. the UX was an after thought I’d I’ve said more than once if I ever find the team or committee or person behind the UX I’d punch them in the throat. And make no mistake most Provinces and Cities aren’t much better. Looking at you City of Toronto. The entire country could do with a design overhaul.
