    1. Buy a bunch of studios to pad out the gamepass library
    2. Close 90% of them before they can put out any games.
    3. Profit???
    1. Buy up all the compute for copilot, making personal PCs too expensive for the average consumer.
    2. Advertise cloud gaming as the solution for the people that can no longer afford hardware.
    3. Seriously reduce how much you can use the cloud before it even takes off.
    4. Profit???

Guess I need a business degree or something, because none of this makes any sense to me.

I guess when you keep passing imaginary money in a circle with your tech buddies in order to make line go up with no regulation and an enabling government the actual business doesn’t have to make sense anymore…

There are plenty of people saying that cloud gaming is the solution to the GPU and RAM price hikes, like it wasn’t obvious that the increased prices also affected the cloud providers and, more importantly for their management, gave them the perfect moment to enshittify their services.

Edit: two examples from my browser history:

I wanted to like cloud gaming, at least while I’m out of the house. The mobile data offered around my area is very poor for anything more demanding than a turn based game.

Another reason to hate Microsoft. And to think I already had so many …
