Meta has reached some new lows it seems. They have an AI working to detect and ban scam accounts. If you get a new number and send out some messages to different people, you might just get banned from WhatsApp.
I got a new number. I moved back to The Netherlands. I send some people a message with my new info. I got banned by the AI for 6 hours.
This alone would not bother me. But you literally cannot appeal the ban. You can, but nobody sees it. It is all AI regulated. And the AI gets triggered by the most random shit. Your account might get permabanned forever with no way to way to retrieve your account and nobody to appeal to. Literally nobody working at that department at Meta.
Signal isn’t a realistic option. Out of the hundreds of WhatsApp contacts I have, twelve have Signal. Just have to walk on egg shells now, I guess. Or face being cutoff from the social media virtually everyone here uses to communicate.
After the Myanmar genocide, I don’t think anyone should trust Meta.
I tried to get a Facebook account years ago because so that I could maybe find housing using it and was insta-banned for zero reason, no appeal no nothing. I deleted my first account like 10 years ago so I have no idea why. Fucking roaches.
Don’t insult roaches by comparing them to Facebook. /j

Have been vegan for some years now. Before that I was vegetarian for years as well. I have been so far removed from meat that I never think about it.
Saw a truck full of pigs headed to the slaughterhouse today and it filled me with rage. Like I legit got triggered by the unexpected sight. Wanted to burn the truck down and save them, but that was impossible sadly. We need to do better.
I have very little hope of meaningful improvements here under capitalism, except for maybe incidental material forces that happen to drive the market to evolve. At least in the US. It’s already a [worthwhile] struggle to organize people around their own class interests let alone empathy for anyone else.
It’s astounding that there’s really no limit as to what can be normalized.

I wish I was able to get into medicine school since that’s the only line of work that pays a respectable amount of money now.
To be fair, computation can have its uses in healthcare. Though in what ways beyond purely administrative things, I’m not entirely sure. And I’m not sure how much of a career there is in it beyond sys admin type stuff.
Yeah, computers are awesome. It’s just a little vent because it’s harder to see exactly how I help.
Recently I made a program to generate reports for a Socialist country. I feel like this sort of stuff could be useful in a smaller scale, but software can only act if there’s people around to use it. Hopefully I’ll get to help people, maybe even in a hospital.
I get you. It’s definitely more indirect when it is a help. But also just broader in what it can be used or. Medicine is more straightforwardly a “help other people” thing (with only the rarest cases of it being used for ill); software is more ambiguous as to the impact it has and what it gets used for. But yeah, here’s hoping you find a good cause for it. The socialist country reports thing already sounds like a step in that direction!

I have a chicken named Sheba, which turned into Sha-bee-boo and then be-boo and she is always the last to go to bed so when I go to lock them up at night I’d say “go to bed sheba” but now it has now evolved in to me saing “Bo boo beep beep boo”

The GTA 6 launch and the following rage by the most oppressed minority gamers should remind some of them to touch some grass
All I got from the trailer drop was a resounding wave of “it’s a gta game” or “meh”, clearly I have not been seeing gamers’ reactions.
I liked that they included more body types and cellulite. But it seems like this is more of showing off the pretty graphics than anything else. The online RP side will love it though.
I think it looks good. However, having been burned by cyberpunk 2077 before, I’m not making any further judgements nor pre-ordering.
I do have a very big soft spot for it being set in vice city/the vice city area just because vice city was my first gta game and personally still probably my favorite even if i know a lot of the other ones are better
Vice city has the best music of any GTA game with SA being a close second.
Honestly for Venezuela, I’m really conflicted. On the one hand, I feel like Maduro would’ve said something if Rodriguez had betrayed him either at his plea hearing or the recent statement he made about the opposition meetings happening soon. But at the same time I feel like not everything Rodriguez has done has been the bare minimum necessary to prevent invasion/war, i.e reopening relations with Israel.
I lean pro-Rodriguez, partially just because the anti-Rodriguez people are insufferable, but idk
Sometimes I really feel like Yugoslavia “sold it’s soul for rock and roll”. Literally. I’ve got some very old Yugoslav-issue records of Dire Straits and other stuff. Also applies to what happened to Yugoslavia.

I know Mark Carney isn’t good, but there’s something about him that makes him so much more…sufferable to me than Trudeau? Idk, I’m not sure if it’s Carney or if Trudeau just annoyed me so much that I would’ve basically been content with anyone besides him.
I will note I’m extremely biased because I have a subconscious like towards opportunists like him and Talleyrand for some inexplicable reason even i can’t understand.
Also also, unrelated, but even though he was a social democrat I really wish Jack Layton lived long enough to become PM. I think that would’ve been cool

No unions (not a whole lot of those left anymore in the US) but yes I’m fine.
