Ehhh. For some of those, I can understand. I have a contamination idiosyncrasity; so, for certain items of importance, I very much like to keep them clean as they came/made in. Books, of all things, is one of those categories. I get so bothered by potentially dirtying them or marking them, even after precautionary measures, to the point I get distracted or refuse to use it. Which sucks. So they just sit there to admire, and just maybe I might open it every few months.
Collecting things such as baseball cards, shoes, or cars then never using them and putting them in glass boxes.
