Not just people. Israel has quite the hold on Anglosphere politics, the UK being no exception.
“Israel” is a collection of people. Most of Israels influence comes from a relatively small numbers of ultra-wealthy people; many jewish/zionist, but also many fossil fuel and MIC oligarchs who want eternal war in the middle east, and a disproportionately large diaspora of them promoting the fascism in domestic politics around the world.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve landed on some billionaires page on Wikipedia, only to learn that they fund raise and propagandize for zionism; half of them aren’t even jewish. They just wanna murder innocent people for the love of the game, and I assume extreme mental illness &/or indoctrination.
First mistake is referring to an oligarchy as democracy. But don’t tell that to a Brit, they are very proud of the monarchy and the historically rooted oligarchy.
Or indeed democracy around the world, not just the UK.

We need to take away the power of the uber-wealthy by redistributing their wealth. We need social services that work again, social housing that is livable, education that is paid for, infrastructure that doesn’t crumble anymore, and to remove the need for in-debting ourselves to the hyperclass.
If its for sale in the first place then it’s a completely fucking worthless democracy
