But the survey findings also suggest that many voters think Democrats should be doing more to fight back.
“It would help to have more positive messages about what the Democrats plan to do to address the issues,” a Montana voter said. “They should define the issue and propose meaningful solutions. Promote their agenda for positive change.”
Some respondents hoped change would come in the form of a generational shake-up — a trend that has already been playing out nationwide, as several younger Democrats have ousted older incumbents.
“Congress needs a clean-up,” one Michigan voter argued. “We need new blood.”
While it’s not uncommon for the opposition party to head into the midterms with an advantage, the information provided shows that almost 80% of respondents reported feeling that the country is heading in the wrong direction. Nearly 90% of respondents also told the volunteers they plan to vote this November. Although nothing says what party they plan to vote for, the DNC believes this information reinforces the need to motivate “infrequent voters” by “directly addressing the rising cost of living.”
The DSA has done more to inspire me and give me hope in politics. DNC doesn’t care about us, they’ve proven it’s rich vs poor.
My short list:
- Stop spending trillions on cartoonishly evil military operations at home and abroad
- Prosecute the perpetrators of those operations, from ICE to Trump to Netanyahu
- Massively redistribute wealth that has been concentrated through brazen corruption over the past 50 years
- Shut down the corruption vectors themselves, by ending super PACs and switching to public funding, undoing the crypto-friendly bank regulation that lets wall street gamble with your retirement money
- Prosecute corruption, including Trump’s crypto fortune and the ever-present insider trading in Congress
- Pass real digital privacy laws instead of censorship laws
- Enforce antitrust law against the scourge of monopolies we face today
- Restore labor union power, prosecute union-busters
- Make gender identity a protected class
- Medicare for all, including gender affirming care
- Federal protection of reproductive rights
- Tax the fuck out of carbon emissions, subsidize the fuck out of renewables
- End the senate, term-limit the SC
- Use tariffs in a way that makes sense: put a premium on importing from manufacturers or countries that achieve low prices by exploiting their workers or polluting the environment
- Data center moratorium
- International AI safety regulatory body
The DNC thinks a lot of things, most of them wrong.
I can’t wait to hear how “infrequent voters” just want the same neoliberal policies that the DNC has always pushed.
If you ain’t fighting this fascistic administration, you are complicit to their actions - including letting them murder two Americans on the street, and countless people in custody.
Of course they need to fight more
