“you know who’s behind it? minnesota,” trump said. “because they’re grossly incompetent. i think the governor’s behind it. i don’t think there was an iranian cyberattack. i think minnesota ought to get its act together.”
he went further, dismissing the notion that iran had the capacity or interest to be involved at all: “they like to say, ‘oh, it was iran.’ iran should be so lucky. iran’s got bigger problems than worrying about minnesota.”
He has the perfect opportunity to call Iran a terrorist state, justifying escalation and extension of his idiotic war. That’s what Cheney would have done.
But this is about retribution against his real enemies: Americans who don’t like him. That’s always his first priority, blame someone else.
Not that he needs an excuse to continue the Iran conflict, it’s not like his ego or intellect will permit him to cut his losses.
