If Britain’s new prime minister doesn’t make policy announcements with some real heft, at some point, voters will notice they’re not that much better off than before, writes Ash Sarkar.
His first day as PM as he sat down at the table in no 10 and gave his speech, he said these words:
“What can we do just to take that little bit of pressure off people’s shoulders just to give them that little extra sense that help is coming, so that they can have that bit of hope that things are getting better”
I’ve emphasised some words in there as his words are indicating that the goal is to give the public something small. I read that as not solving the problems, but just giving us peasants a slither of hope.
