A real shame. It looked like a fantastic course. I had really wanted to get down there and try it out.

There’s still the inaptly-named Newcastle Island Triathlon at Stockton, which is running twice this year and moving to a late September slot from its previous late Jan/early Feb time from 2027. But the course for that doesn’t seem anywhere near as good.

This also follows the cancellation of the Maitland Triathlon back in 2019. A real loss for triathlon in the Hunter region.
