Race came alive when Hamilton was charging on the mediums and the mercs were squabbling. Norris being in the picture too. Brilliant. Was picking Hamilton for a podium behind the mercs, happy to see him back on the top step.

Kind of a weird race, first half was extremely low action with everyone just driving incredibly slowly and trying to look after their melting tyres, and then it started to build towards a really tense finish thanks to Ferrari’s strategy masterclass (unironically). Only for it to be scuppered by the VSC. I am sad we didn’t get the final few laps of showdown with Lewis on fresher tyres versus Mercs having to overtake on track.

Still, I’m very happy for Hamilton, and happy someone actually broke the post 300 starts winless curse. He is in incredible form right now and if Ferrari keep delivering on upgrades (especially on the engine) we might actually have a title fight this season. Didn’t really think I’d be saying that.

Antonelli still looks like the man to beat, though. George will be relieved to eat into the points deficit but he still looked like he was lacking a little bit compared to Kimi, who showed better pace (especially towards the end) and also seemed to have looked after his tyres better. Very impressive for a 19 year old in his second season.

Also can’t believe Lindblad actually ended up in the points despite whatever the fuck they were doing with his strategy this race (that long first stint on the mediums was not it).

Can’t wait for engine upgrades to start coming in, this could be a very exciting second half of the season.

Even without the vsc it seems he had the pace to at least challenge the win if not win it

Yes, we were kind of robbed of a thrilling finish where he would have had to overtake the Mercs on track, but Ferrari were actually completely on it today with the three stop.

      Even a broken clock…

Nah, I’m very happy for Ferrari and Hamilton. Seems like the upgrades worked well for them and a good call. Let’s see if they can reproduce this success.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled for Lewis but I always figured he’d win despite the crew on the wall.

Here’s hoping Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes all have a top tier car in the 2nd half of the season.

I am taking a beating in F1 Fantasy right now. Monaco and Barcelona, three drivers DNF’ed in my roster. I was last in the Lemmy league for both weekends 😭

I… might have cursed Kimi’s car. Was watching the race with my mom and explaining to her that this guy leading the championship hasn’t lost any race due to major car failure while pretty much everyone else has. Not even a minute later his car dies lmao

It wasn’t just you. The AppleTV pregame crew brought up the merc power unit’s reliability “except for Kimi”.

Interesting race, but most importantly my son is a huge Hamilton fan… he only got into F1 last season and obviously wasn’t a great season to be a Hamilton fan.

But he stuck with him, and today I got to see the awe in his eyes as his hero finally got one… just a great day and big respect to Hamilton representing the old guys like me.

    Edit: typo
