I feel like more of the blame here lies on the US government for banning research on cannabis for so long.
As far as possible medicinal uses - it’s a plant. You can grow it in your back yard if you want. It doesnt seem any different than saying that lionsmane has brain benefits or whatever. At least with laws the way they are right now, it seems totally reasonable to talk about the unproven but anecdotal effects of a plant you are selling. Maybe we should change the laws to cut down on snake oil, but cannabis companies are hardly the worst offenders here.
As far as possible harms - I feel like these can be researched with a small amount of effort, and are either well known, or quite rare. We don’t expect alcohol companies to tell you about the potential for alcoholism and liver disease because they are just such good guys - we mandate that they mention potential harms on their packaging, so that we can have something to read between lulls in the conversation while we are drinking.
90% - this is a lawsuit drummed up by the alcohol industry to create negative publicity (and possibly inspire regulation on) the cannabis industry in a move to recapture some share of the “getting fucked up” market
During my depressive state in my 20s and 30s I almost drank myself to death, I was in the hospital under 100 lbs for a 6’ man (at the time). I think my liver function is still compromised but I have not had testing. It totally wrecked my body. I have never had anything but positive experiences with marijuana but I usually stick to good old flower. You are probably right about the lawsuit, they have been doing everything they can to keep it illegal here in WI.
Oh god more bullshit lawsuits from people looking for a quick buck, fuck lawyers and this sue happy country. The article also very vague, as it links to cannabis which could be any number of 1000s of products now. I suspect a lot of the problems would come from the super high potency extracts though as those are fairly new and who knows what they’re using to make them. Anyways, take some responsibility for your own choices sometimes.
